The end of May shows new to GSN episodes of The $25,000 Pyramid have been aquired from April 1985.

I just had a look at the PDF. Looks like they will be starting with Patty Duke & Brian Mitchell May 6, 1985 to May 10, 1985

That's an interesting acquisition, based on the past few years. In April 2009, they started with September '85 and went through June '86. In 2012, they got June '86 through April '87. Prior to that, the last time 25K had been on the daily schedule was with the final few months of the run. As happy as the new batch makes me, I had thought (and hoped) that I'd get another shot at the final year. (I'm still kicking myself for not keeping all of Kelly Grogan's run when I had the chance, but I didn't have a DVD burner at the time.)

Hmm....$25,000 Pyramid at 10:00, and $otC at 10:30. For nostalgia's sake, perhaps reacquire "Wheel" to slot at 11 and acquire "Scrabble" for 11:30....

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Now that I've had a chance to look at various information, the $25KP pickup ...
  • will just miss the first player to exceed $50,000
  • will just miss Gloria Chavez, who eventually became the contestant coordinator
  • will include a player who sets a new earnings record. (I believe that someone else set a record between then and Kelly Grogan.)
  • will include future celebrity player Kathy Najimy

Does "The Hub" still have the rights to anything Scrabble? I was wondering, because FGN is cancelled. I bet the rights aren't cheap for anybody who wants them.

Ah, yes, by '85, that show was in full bore Announcer Of The Week mode.
You people who keep track of celebrities by the week on that program really want to impress?
Give us a rundown of who the announcer for The $25,000 Pyramid was for each week.

During mid-1985, the first tapings of The New $25,000 Pyramid's equally successful nighttime counterpart, The $100,000 Pyramid, also occurred. Photos from some of the first weeks of the nighttime edition were seen in Broadcasting Magazine.

Scrabble Showdown is currently off the schedule; its spots got taken by extra airings of Game of Life. Sucks, because SS was the far superior show.

Part of me wonders if Hub took it off because of Justin Willman's current gig on a competing network.

If I'm not mistaken, the picture in the $100 spot is Mel Harris during her (second) turn as a civilian contestant, which makes it doubly cool!

It is very much Mel Harris. Also, production on the nighttime show began shortly after they replaced the winner circle microphones, as seen in this episode, with black Sony ECM-51s, like the ones Bob Barker used to use.
