Not sure where to post this...help requested
« on: May 08, 2014, 01:26:26 AM »
Okay, everyone here knows I love game shows. Standardized tests remind me so much of them, what with the timer and scripts. Anyway, I play a lot of timed games on my computer...games that could use a game show like script. While writing the script is the easy part...the voice is the hard part...I have someone's voice mail I used to work with in NY, but no other way to contact her. She has the perfect "reading, standardized test, game show" voice, but the problem is getting THAT voice to read my scripts and time me without her actually being there, being that wee are states apart. Any ideas?

(Mods, please move if it's in the wrong section)

Suddenly I had this weird thought...which means I'm likely reading you wrong, but still. Story sounds like somebody I met last year.

Asking if anyone knows how to duplicate a voice so I can plug in text and she can read it.

Assuming the answer is "yes", it'll cost you less to hire a voice actor to impersonate her.

I don't have much technical knowledge but I concur with Gene here. You probably could do what you're desiring to but the amount of time, effort, and money it would take would hardly be worth it.

Johnny, read this article so you can get a better idea of the scope of what you're asking for.

It wouldn't just be cheaper to hire a voice actor; it would be cheaper to hire a detective to find this woman and fly her to your home each and every time you wanted her to read something for you.

/and just about as creepy

This is another Genuine Creepy™ Game Show Forum Post.

You just want to pay a woman to read things you write for games you play on the computer?

Check Craigslist.

The vibe I am getting (and this is still a guess considering how poorly the whole thing has been explained) is that Johnny wants this chick's voice in synthesized form so he can just point a program of some sort at a text file and have it read in this voice.

And that Johnny does not understand at all that it's nowhere near (and by that I mean on a par with "I want someone to build something the size of a Sterno can for me that will power my home for a month. Any ideas?") that simple.

Johnny wants a female voice on his voicemail to do voices for his version of The Rich List, which goshdarnit, if he had gotten protection on it, he'd be on easy street.  And if my aunt had cajones, she'd be my uncle.

Or something like that.

If I'm reading this correctly, maybe try the Windows Narrator program?

I already got the e-mail suite; it didn't help things.
