Ten years ago today on Jeopardy!
« on: June 02, 2014, 05:17:05 PM »
Some guy from Utah named Ken Jennings showed up. He won...he won again...he won again...and won 71 more times.

It's beyond weird that Julia's streak is happening a decade later...

It really isn't. Julia's streak is already twenty deep. Sometimes events just cluster like that.

It's beyond weird a quirky coincidence that Julia's streak is happening a decade later...
Fixed.

Brian, I'm sorry I ever called you an idiot.

You're clearly a troll.

I thought the big question was intent and ability. I think the work product herein answers those questions.

What I find unnerving is that it's been ten years already.

Tell me about it.

I was about to burst back on the scene and ream Henke some more for his burning case of apophenia but I'm convinced Jeopardy has hacked my iPad because why else would they have that FJ tonight when they knew damn well that I was midway through A Prayer for Owen Meany? Why, I ask you?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the end to Julia's streak now mean we have a full tourney field for next season?
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Someone who wins five games and more than $69,000 will mean the first time in a long time (ever?) that a five-game winner did not compete in the tournament of champions.

I had to look to see who is on that bubble...it's poor Rani Peffer. Be a shame, I say, if she doesn't qualify.

But what's the bigger weight- money or wins? Because I'm suddenly curious to see what would happen if a champ won one less game but significantly more money than Rani did. (Which $69k won't cover- $70,701 was her final.)

Wins first, then monies.
