Vanna: Go or Miss It?
« on: July 17, 2014, 05:47:15 PM »
I got an email yesterday.  WoF is doing their Million Dollar Finale next Friday with Vanna (sorry, no Pat).  It will start on 2pm.  However, I am going to work at 3:30pm and it will be tight driving from the Rio to work.  Should I:
A) see the show and be late
B) Call in sick, see the show and play the rest of the time
C) Not go

Take aside the bit where you call in "sick," if you were to call in "seeing a game show" and actually told them that's what you were doing, what do you think your boss's reaction would be?

I take it D. Burn a PTO day isn't an option?

In terms of the event, I had to look a solid 15 minutes before it was I had a hell of an idea of what you meant; you mean the Millionaire Match Maker Sweepstakes, right? Still no, under the assumption that you aren't one of the four finalists (three of the four get 50 grand; the other gets 1 million).

/couldn't you just use a vacation day?
//of course, you go, you'll probably get quite a few more of them

I'm still working on that part.

There's Heinz, and then there's everything else.

Going to work is guaranteed money, you don't have to audition for that.  Wheel, on the other hand...

"Prizes" almost had it right.  It's the Millionaire Maker Sweepstakes, not "Match Maker".  Apparently, the final event is live on stage in Las Vegas with Vanna hosting, and one of the semifinalists is guaranteed a million bucks.  Our would-be truant Mr. Atkins seems to merely want to see Vanna, and the excitement of a random person winning a million dollars.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Well, there's part of the reason why. I'd totally forgotten about this.
