Johnny: My quibble is with your phrasing (which seems appropriate given that the subject is Alex Trebek) and saying that "most of us" grew up with that particular iteration of his facial hair.

Surely you know he was apologizing.

I think he knows, Matt, he was just playing off me.

I prefer Leslie Nielsen as the captain in The Poseidon Adventure.

I once wrote a bonus category for a TRASH tournament (quiz bowl game with pop culture questions) that had this set-up:  "Roger Ebert called him 'The Olivier of spoofs.'  Just don't call him Shirley.  Answer these questions about the career of Leslie Nielsen before he became such a friggin' clown."

The questions were about Poseidon, Forbidden Planet and Tammy and the Bachelor.

Your "quibble" became much less amusing once you pulled the "Mentally or chronologically?" line.

Thunder, don't worry about it. I know he was ribbing, and even if he wasn't, I can take it.

Then it's a good thing it wasn't meant to be amusing. Since I'm still here and haven't been booked for a yellow card it would appear that I'm within the bounds.

It's not bushy enough because he hasn't grown it out, and the salt-and-pepper look just makes it look less substantial. I'm sure in time it'll grow on him.
