Why would this matter?

I don't really see why it shouldn't count.....just because it was an unsold pilot doesn't really make any difference, IMO.
If we're going to go down the route of "any woman who ever hosted a game show at any time ever" I'm going to add Sylvia Scott, who subbed on Dialing For Dollars for a week in the 70s on WMAR-TV in Baltimore and Candy Cramer who emceed the POW! segments on WCLQ-TV in Cleveland. I will also add that Lisa Pendegrast hosted Bobcat Buzz-In on the Ohio University campus for at least one game in 1999. Other people hosted it, too, but Lisa's a woman and Bobcat Buzz-In was a game that was shown.
Hmm. There's one woman, I can't think of her name...hmm...I know it's Vanna something. :P
As per a post on Usenet, she was a cheerleader on an unsold pilot called Pot of Gold c. 1981.

Here, I'll add some:

Nancy Sullivan and Marianne Curan both hosted two GSN Originals that paired with each other in the old days of GSN Interactive: "Super Decades" and "Trivia Track."

And, of course, Brooke Burns hosted the US version of Dog Eat Dog.

Now, for my international list:

Kirsty Young and Kaye Adams both hosted "The People Versus," in the UK.

Carol (Do-Do) Cheng (I'm a Chinese American, so I know this, having researched it as well) hosted the Hong Kong version of "Weakest Link."

Belle Yu, whose attitude is ABOVE a 10 on the "Anne-o-meter of Attitude", hosted the Taiwan version's first season.

That's all I have to add, for now.

Perhaps the very first female game show host was none other than Gypsy Rose Lee, who (according to my copy of The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows, Second Edition), hosted a show called Think Fast clear back in 1950.

   Michael Brandenburg
(Interestingly, her autobiography inspired the Broadway musical Gypsy, from which came the theme for another game show: "Everything's Coming Up Roses," a song from the musical, was later used as the theme music for Seven Keys.)

Vera Vague? Boy, that's going back - from the mid 40s to early 50s, a gal named Irene Beasley hosted a radio quiz called Grand Slam. Penny Olson co-hosted Ladies Be Seated with hubby Johnny in it's radio days - I found a couple of more female hosts in the Maxine Fabe listings - however, I have a book of photos from early tv called Those Were The Days that listed Arthur Godfrey's sister Kathy as one of the MCs of On Your Way. I'm not spotting any other collaboration on that one, so we'll call it "iffy."

My wife hosted a game of dominoes at our house tonight.  It wasn't broadcast on television either, but I guess she counts too then.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Bzzt. Oooh, I'm so sorry. Dominoes isn't a game show. We could have accepted Monopoly, Pictionary, Password, Scattergories, etc. :P

My girlfriend hosted a game of spin the bottle, and had the video camera capturing it for posterity. Does that count then?

Perhaps.

No offense, but you should send it off to Fremantle. I'm sure they could go far with that. :P

No, but feel free to post clips. Especially if you have any girl-on-girl action. :)

You are all wrong. To be technically correct, there have been no female gameshow hosts.  They are hostesses. (sp) :D

Nope. The word is gender neutral in English.

I know we are probably still trying to erase any memory of this, but....to make it quick and painless...*AHEM* BeccaGrantonThroutandNeck

re: Blind Date, if you mean the UK version, and since I will take any opportunity to name drop '60s female singers, allow me to add Cilla Black to the list.
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.
