The story's already over at the GSN board.

And with all due respect, J.W., Woolery left "Wheel."

WOOLERY LEFT WHEEL??????!!!!!!!   My god, the world's gonna end!  Everybody pray to whatever deities you believe in, cuz you're all out of time!

I'll put it another way, I'll post what I like.  I guess it hasn't occured to you that not everyone reads every single board and every single posting in here.  I hae a life, and I don't have time to read every pixel that appears on my monitor whenever I pull up this forum, so take your 'all due respect' remark and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.  I think others have told you about this before.  I'll post what I like, where I like, when I like.  If you dont' like it, then you don't have to read it.

Well, it ended up in the GSN forum (which you apparently don't read), anyway.

Mark's point is that you're late to the party, and what you post as a news item is old news to us.  If you cared to offer opinions or insights, that would be one thing.  But a mere link to a story we're already talking about helps no one and makes you look out of touch.

If you can't be bothered with reading what others have written, or even glancing at a handful of headers, that's certainly up to you.  But you're going to get called on it (uncamark, BTW, is one of the more gentle voices in that regard) and responding with a defensive rant that you can do or say anything you want in our forum isn't going to score you a bunch of points either.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Fine, let him call me on it.  I'll ignore it, next time.  FYI, that link went up this morning.  It was new news as far as I'm concerned.  I don't have the luxury or the time to be a GSN insider at this moment.  Perhaps that will change in the next few months, but we'll have to see.

As for 'scoring points', thank you for your concern, but it doesn't matter to me.  This isn't a game. It's a place to post opinions, ruminations, etc. on game shows.  If you don't want me to rant, don't tick me off.  It's that easy.  Now, back to topic.  I've had enough of this one.

There's one show I don't think I saw mentioned before - Vegas Weddings Unveiled.

One question I do have here -- what, exactly, is the 'new' GSN aiming for?  Reality shows are certainly at the top of their list, but it seems like they're going in the same direction that the old Nashville Network, among many others, has gone, which is away from their traditional audience.  That particular network comes to mind because of all the changes they've made in the past 5 years in general, the past 6-10  months in particular.  I'm sure attracting a bigger crowd is a major contributing factor.

One thing seems pretty clear -- I'll have to dig out some tapes in my old tape collection if I want to watch reruns of Match Game or anything else game show-related in the near future.

Oh, I do apologize for the harsh tone earlier.  It's not an excuse, but I am on medication for a major ear infection (going on 6 months now!!)  that does include mood swings as a side effect.  A *wonderful* thing for a teacher to have, especially at the start of a new semester.  Yes, I am seeking other meds that will take care of the problem, in case anyone is wondering.

Does anyone know if the changes to the Nashville Network have been successful? Anyhow - the object of the "new" GSN AFIAK is to be a general "gaming" network, rather than a game show network. This is accomplished (in their opinion) by adding non-game programming (fake a date), video game programming, and general game programing (casino stuff, plus all the games across america bits).

And that's about all we know, I think.

 (snip)

I don't know about their other shows, but I have to believe that it's doing well, because their line-up has been pretty steady of late.  They've been shoing some popular older series that haven't aired anywhere in a while.  I do know that their Star Trek:  TNG ratings have been through the roof, which surprises me since Star Trek is not en vogue, as it were, among sci-fi fans, evidenced in part in the performance of Star Trek X: Nemesis at the box offfice.

There's no telling where GSN will wind up.  One thing's for sure:  Fox is going to be keeping GSN in no short supply for new reality series for a while.  They keep coming up with wilder and dumber ideas all the time.

There is that new Reality Central or whatever it's called coming eventually. Don't know where that'll leave GSN in the reality department...

Blah, blah, blah.

It was posted before in numerous places, and you could've went back two topics to read what you just posted.  All this "I can do what I want", and "you can stick it where the sun don't shine" defense is hardly necessary.

What is the purpose of being on a message board if you don't read the messages?

Not that this is earth-shattering, but JWJ did initally post the thread starter on "The Big Board" and it was moved here.

Ask your Wildcats to go easy on my Hoosiers Saturday.  :)

Doug -- soon to celebrate 300 posts (all of which are not earth shattering)

Ya know, I wonder if The New GSN has any plans to dedicate any programming to coverage of some sort of German-style boardgaming? I'm not talking about live coverage of a Settler's tournament or anything, that would be utterly lame TV, but maybe a short documentary or a bit on a news-type show...

Not sure if you're kidding or not (God knows you and Don Rickles are the kings of sarcasm), but an article in the newest Games magazine covers the basics of BrettspielWelt, the popular German board game website.
