Random thoughts and questions
« on: March 14, 2015, 07:53:02 AM »
When the second season of J! began, they had the champion at the right instead of the left. When did they go back to the other way?

I've been watching Jim Lange NTT on YouTube and I am wondering, besides The Gong Show, what game show made use of a lot of confetti? Speaking of NTT, they really went overboard with confetti and balloons, to the point that you could barely see Jim and the winning contestant. The raining of confetti and balloons continued while Jim Lange was going through his spiel about the necklace, cash, and car.

Do we count shows guest starring Rip Taylor?

One of Jim Lange's other shows, $1MCoaL, had confetti drops and indoor pyrotechnics.

I'd say any of the million dollar games. I think Donnymid used confetti for the tournaments, as well. The short-lived Trashed on MTV had a very unique confetti "celebration". From what I remember, one of the assistants would drop paper into what looks like a leafblower and spray the set with confetti. Around the 29:24 mark.

Hopefully no one had confetti allergies. :)

I'm not certain on the exact date, though I do know the switch back had happened by Chuck Forrest's first day.

I suppose another Barris "gem", $1.98 Beauty Show, would qualify because Rip threw confetti at the start of each show. Confetti also fell at the end of the Stumpers finale, prompting Allen Ludden to quip "I feel like I'm on the Gong Show."

The jeopardy champ on the right....

I don't recall that lasting more than 2 or 3 weeks at the most

Did Barris's version of "Treasure Hunt" use confetti?  If I know Chucky Baby, it wouldn't surprise me.

Since I know a few people here have kept Sale of the Century episode guides, I was curious: does anyone have an idea of how frequently Instant Bargains had a Sale Surprise attached to them? If I had to guess, I would say about 1 in 5 bargains did, but I was just wondering if that's a statistic anyone had kept track of.

I'd say that sounds about right. I know for certain I've never seen two of them in the same show, for what it's worth.

Don't have any hard numbers, but I could look through my collection to see...
