It was nice to hear Burton Richardson doing the opening VO for the show again, although I did find it strange they did such an opening for one game and not the other.  I also liked that they played two full games and skipped the "tournament" format from the 2008 NBC version (that version, IIRC, took out the Double round and did Single/Single/Triple to squeeze three games in an hour).

Steve Harvey's hosting was a bit odd.  He came off like a robot programmed to react to certain words -- in this case, anything that would have Beavis and Butthead go into laughing fits.  When the "buzzy" moments happened, he was engaging and somewhat entertaining.  Otherwise, he appeared to be going through the motions.

He also appeared a bit lost during Round 2 of the Potter/Stone game, after both players in the Face-Off couldn't get an answer to the church collection plate question.  For a brief moment, he looked baffled as to what to do next.

The ABC primetime specials of the Dawson era had a three-game "tournament"-style format, too, and I think the only real difference from the standard shows was that Game 3 was just one question.

It might be balanced out with the fact they won't have to go against golf like last night. ABC might have made the right call with this and Battlebots (which was great I thought- and it did a decent 5.39 million/1.9 demo)

The ABC version was two 200-point games (using the original "first two single, the rest double" format) with a $5000 Fast Money, then one question (the first one had one of the few 10-answer questions - I think it was, "Name something you would find at a wedding"- with a $10,000 Fast Money for the winner.  I don't know if they would have inflated the final winner's total had the not won Fast Money as I am pretty sure every ABC episode ended with a $10,000 win.

Note about the second game in the 6/21 episode:
It seemed to me like the second player's final Fast Money answer was well after the buzzer, but the host allowed it.  Fortunately, it wasn't necessary; I can only imagine how S&P would have handled it, assuming the answer was accepted.  Yes, I realize they bend the rules a little for charity games (e.g. how the other contestants can help with the answers before the guaranteed minimum is reached on Celebrity Millionaire), but that would have been pushing it.
Also, I wonder if KGO will be asking for "equal time" for the Warriors.

Celebrity Feud has always been pretty lenient about the time. I've seen it happen on a Dawson episode, particularly when Jim Perry couldn't think of a brand of mouthwash (Richard: "You look into a micro___"). Pretty sure I've seen it once or twice with other hosts.

It would be pretty bad television if the team has 199 points, and they can't play the last question for $25K because time ran out.

Only problem with MTM is that Mary Tyler Moore is reportedly nearly blind. She may not want to be on TV in her condition.

Yes, because sight is the most important facility needed for Family Feud.  I hear (see what I did there) blindness has completely disfigured her.

Sure Mary could play the game without having good eyesight, but she may not want to be seen on TV with someone escorting her. Regarding the surviving Dick Van Dyke cast, as much as I'd like to see that, who else would want to see a group of 80-90 year olds play the game, especially with the writing they now have with some of the questions.

Given the stuff Betty White's done in recent years, I doubt this would be that big of a deal. Besides, look up the nickname Mary Tyler Moore gave Dick Van Dyke back in the 60s and let me know what you find...

They might be old school, but I'd guess their humor can be just as blue.

Since unlike the syndicated version, that scenario wouldn't leave them with an act of nothing to do, I was glad they realized they didn't need to stretch things out.

I wasn't paying full attention, but weren't there a couple of late "try again" buzzes that threw the rhythm off? There was the aforementioned questionable buzz, and then when the contestant gave a duplicate answer on the fourth question, the buzzer didn't sound until right before she gave her second answer, potentially confusing her. I would've given her a couple extra seconds, too.

This show is absolutely horrendous.

In what ways particularly?

Apologies, I shot off the message while I was watching and was busy the past few days. I found the opening question/interaction very inappropriate for broadcast television when it is still considered family time. This aired right after AFV and the way the show started is not something I would want my children watching. Unfortunately, I was disgusted and didn't watch the rest of the show (seems like it got more PG as the show went on), but it seemed to try to draw in laughter and ratings with raunchiness, which has no business on network TV in such an early timeslot.

Just my personal opinion, of course.
