Quote from: Broadcasting & Cable
with more than $12 million on the line every night.
But how much is realistically gonna get won on this thing? A couple hundred thousand at most?
How could we possibly know? If LeBron James is on board, what's to say that they can't pay off a multi-million dollar jackpot? And honestly, if a team splits five-hundred grand or so, what's it to you? For once in your life can you just watch a game show and enjoy it? Or not watch a game show and leave it be?

If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

I learned something tonight. Not that it hinders my ability to enjoy the show, but in doing a little Googling, I didn't realize how scripted it was.

Sorry, didn't mean to out Santa Claus on you. :) I just choose to suspend disbelief and enjoy it for what is being presented to me. As such I still herald Ron Funches as a god. :)

No worries. I'll still get a good (possibly cheap) laugh while watching! :)

What's with the attitude? I'm all for new game shows, and I just shared my thoughts and concerns on this one based on the available info.

As for the whole money thing, for me even a few thousand dollars would make a huge difference in my life, let alone five figures or more. If a team splits $500,000 on this show, good for them. :)

So this is a fine line, but for me, in regards to the money, it has to do with how they present it. If the show really hammers on that top prize, constantly saying that "Our team could walk out of here tonight with TWELVE! MILLION! DOLLARS!" when even anyone who thinks "Pascal's Triangle" is a potential PornHub search could see that is never going to happen, then it's an issue for me. I think of Weakest Link, and how NBC really pushed it as their million-dollar game show from the U.K., and after one viewing, it was obvious that no one was winning that top prize, ever. Winning $85,000 sure ain't nothing to turn up your nose at, but putting out top prizes that are many times that, which the producers know have a near-zero chance of being awarded, sours the whole enterprise.

Honestly, I thought we were at the point where seven-figure (let alone eight-) paydays were beyond passe. Wheel and Millionaire don't even hype their million dollar prizes as much as they used to, so the fact that twelve million damn dollars is considered a selling point a decade after big money games lost their luster makes me wonder just how strong the game is to begin with.

/Plinko with trivia kinda answers that question, FWIW

Clearly, it's no "Rubik's Cube"...

While you're not wrong, this strikes me as hilarious given the name of one of the shows.

...anyone who thinks "Pascal's Triangle" is a potential PornHub search...

I didn't. But that's only because I'd never heard of it. (I'm a musician; we count to 4 and then start over. At least some of the time.) But that was a fun little Wiki-dive, leading me to the question: Is Strahan too busy to host "Pascal's Pyramid"?

That more or less plays out any time somebody makes it past the $50,000 safety point.

To this end, was there a show that had a reasonable balance between advertising a healthier-than-usual top prize together with a healthy chance at winning it? Before Millionaire went to syndication, I felt that was true. And probably $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime, given it took just 3 consecutive bonus wins to get the money, and a number of people did it.

$100,000 Name That Tune, and I've heard  "The $25,000 Treasure Hunt," even though the money amount wasn't in the title. Also $64,000/$128,000 Question.
