A 16mm kinescope made off WCBS-TV on Oct. 1, 1950. Listed as "lost to history" on TV.com. Mystery guest is Kathleen Winsor, author of "Forever Amber."

Because the OP did not include the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-sound-film-Whats-My-Line-October-1-1950-Kinescope-Kathleen-Windsor-Author-/231798890491?hash=item35f84a5ffb:g:ZkkAAOSwT~9WhH7h

Wow... the screenshots bear this out. It is indeed an episode previously considered to be lost, though it seems it may be slightly incomplete.

Anyone converted one of these before? I'm guessing this wouldn't be cheap.

A "What's My Line?" group on Facebook has started a campaign where the members are pooling their resources to acquire the video for themselves and, more importantly, for public display on YouTube.  The members there have pledged nearly a thousand dollars to the effort, plus at least two people have stepped up (one of them Stu Shostak) to offer transfer services for free.

If you want to beat that as a private collector, go for it, but that's what you'd be up against.  Otherwise, I think most of us will be perfectly content to see this go to that group so that EVERYBODY gets a chance to watch it online.

That's great. Hope they're able to make it work out.
I see there's others as well, such as a Price is Right from May 8 1964 sponsored by Lark Cigarettes.

It should just be a standard 16-millimeter sound film, so the conversion should be relatively easy. Definitely something Stu Shostak could make reasonably quick work of.

The seller also has two episodes of The Dating Game that I'm pretty confident aren't really publicly available as of right now. I've got some eBay gift card money that I could put to good use...

Still hovering just over $200 with about 41 hours left. Rooting for the WML Facebook group. :)

I noticed that as well, although it's from a different seller (listing here). No idea whether this one was previously making the trading rounds, though given it's got a cigarette company as the sponsor I doubt it aired on GSN.

The What's My Line Facebook group succeeded in their efforts (at a final price tag of $464.99!), so we can expect to see this previously undiscovered episode online soon!

I'm not a huge fan of everything the group leader does, but that's pretty brilliant.
