The promo I saw had Sarah Palin in the "sexpot" seat, the bottom left.

Mary Wickes was a sexpot?

How about just the "new kid" seat?  Here are some of the occupants during 1978: Mary Wickes, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Susan Sullivan, Patty Duke Astin, Eva Gabor, Ethel Merman, Lee Meriweather, Arlene Francis, Loni Anderson, Marilu Henner, Connie Stevens, Elaine Joyce, Debralee Scott.  There's no way to describe all of those people except "female."

Side note:  I won't be watching tonight; the show airs opposite the Bears game.  Expect low ratings in Chicago and Philadelphia.

After seeing it tape I'm anxious to see how they edit out a lot of the panel's um, enjoyment of their beverages.

Watching the episode now.

I've got a real problem with the judging on this version.  One contestant's answer of "nipples" was deemed acceptable for "boobs".  As a result, the contestant went on to win the game.  This sort of thing has been happening all season, where the judging has been VERY loose.

Someone who has a problem with that should try out for Jeopardy or Pyramid. It's not like they don't know the jist walking in. Not to say it isn't stupid, but I bet there's a rule in the packet that says judges descisions are final.

Why shouldn't it have been?

I think the same general area is what the judges are looking for. Those are indeed in the same general area.

Fun fact: Jack originally showed his answer and the judges buzzed it as not a match.  Alec said "Are you SURE you want to say that is not a match?"  Production halted and the panel and the audience were all yelling to make it a match.  It took a couple minutes and they deemed it a match and they resumed the game.  At the end of taping they had to go back and re-shoot Jack revealing his answer.

Overall an enjoyable show. First and only time they had two guys as contestants.

Best show of the season - and it wasn't because of Palin , and it wasn't becasue of the celebs (Kristin Chenoweth? awful. Randall? unnecessarily vulgar)

It worked because Alec kept them in line - played 2nd fiddle to their jokes, and showed an udder disdain for idiot contestant. He was masterful. If he can break from the cue cards next year, he'd be a spectacular host.
