NBC greenlights pilot for "5 Gold Rings"
« on: January 24, 2017, 05:44:51 PM »
NBC's luck with interactive game shows hasn't gone well in recent years, with "Million Second Quiz" laying an egg and a planned game based on the QuizUp app never getting off the ground before being abandoned last year. But the Peacock keeps on trying.

The latest is a pilot based on a UK format (set to debut across the pond later this year) called "5 Gold Rings". The article says the show promises a smartphone interactive element for viewers at home, but the description of the show leaves a bit to be desired ("it's got .... a shiny floor and a ticking clock!")

It already airs in the Netherlands (as 5 Golden Rings). It is typically quite good, but not killer.

The UK show has filmed on the Dutch set, Philip Schofield is hosting.

With that title, it sounds like it should be a limited-run series around Christmastime.

Don't give the Peacock ideas for other bird stunts.

So basically, this is "The Power of Ring"?

Not really, but I sort of see what you're getting at.

My thought was Pressure Pad, myself.

If they do a celebrity edition, they should include Danny Bonaduce and author Harry Turtledove.

Does Harry have a brother?

Yes. You could have.
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Okay, then I didn't want to. Someone else makes a joke y'all laugh. I make a joke, I get lambasted. Whatever.
