Lange Dating Game Question
« on: January 24, 2004, 06:23:48 PM »
Whenever a woman questioner appeared on DG to ask the three ''eligible bachelors'', she always sat on a stuffed, button-tufted molded seat. Yet, on occasions when a man asked the ''bachelorettes, he sat on one of those director's chairs. What was the deal with the different seats ?  Were there ever times when that was reversed, that is, guys seated on the ''bachelorette's'' chair?

For those of you born in a time after women's liberation, it was a thing called gallantry, or chivalry, or maybe chauvinism. Women were given special privileges. Men stood up when they entered rooms, opened doors for them, and gave them seats on buses when there were none to be had.

There is another name for it — etiquette (manners) — and it's a shame it has gone out the window.

Try doing any of that now, and you'd probably get socked in your tufted buttons.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

Whenever that rarity of a man quizzing 3 bachelorettes, the ladies seating was...

ABC:  soft chair types along with a staircase.

Syndicated 1977 version:  Same as the men, the director's chairs.

And they always have that heart shape to show the lovely ladies.  On that Pufnstuf episode, they used a Christmas reef.

Also to answer your question, the only time a male sat on the famous bachelorette chair was on The Denim Game (Old Navy ad).

And who doesn't want a lovely piece of coral for Christmas?
