 Zach, Zach, Zach, you are really slipping.  Don't tell me you of all people forgot Eddie Timanus?!  There were also sight-impaired people on prime-time Millionaire on at least two occasions.  (On those instances, Regis read the answers before the time starts.)

There was a Match Game ep with a blind contestant. The only time they had even the slightest difficulty was when he had to spin the star wheel. But that went pretty smoothly, with an assist from Gene.

I seem to recall that the contestant's guide dog was named Princess. Could be wrong, but it's funny how trivial details can stick with you.

 Now that you mention it, she wasn't even the first blind contestant CS ever had.  There was a blind woman w/guide dog toward the end of the NBC run in 1981.

Absolutely. Doesn't make me "incorrect" in disliking the show, though. In fact, go back and read what I wrote. I said, essentially, that I would have liked the show if that jackass Vasgersian weren't on it. Even conceding the point about reading the dealer, the guy comes off to me as a smug twit, kinda like Bob Costas, who I respect immensely in every other field of endeavor EXCEPT when he is broadcasting baseball.

Point taken. I apologize, I was prolly a little more acerbic in my response than was warranted. Chalk it up to a bad evening.

I'm wondering if my reaction is typical.  I think I would be GSN's target audience for this show--I love to play blackjack--it's the best table game available in a casino and I love to watch the World Poker Tour.  BUT--there is no "strategy" to speak of in blackjack.  Yes, when (and if) you make a unusually large bet is important in the tournament setting--but basically, it is all luck who wins or who loses.  In poker, you can win with 2 aces or with a 2/7 off suit if you bet/bluff "well."  There is much more "drama" and "intrigue" to poker.  Unless MY money is on the table in BJ, I don't have much interest in watching others--I can't learn anything from the players--once you know what to hit and what to stand on, the rest is luck.  I also don't believe that there is any real skill (other than some elementary card counting) that can help any one person stand out.  I would be very interested if the same few "pros" could really stand out over and over again in a crowded (300 or so) field like the best do on the WPT.  I doubt it, since skill doesn't really matter, and luck is (or should be) random.

You summed up my problem with the show pretty well.  It seemed very arbitrary who won.  The chip totals at the end weren't too much different than what they first stated with.  Although there is luck involved with poker as well, it seemed that 95% of what happened in blackjack was because of luck.
