Nah, they'll just storm the city council demanding it be declared an historical landmark.
I mean go ahead and joke, and perhaps this is an overstatement, but I think the historic impact of the shows filmed at TVC could qualify it as a historic landmark.

Is The Ed Sullivan Theater a historic landmark?

Yes it is. Bill Carter's book "The Late Shift" touches on how the renovation before David Letterman moved in proved more expensive than anticipated, specifically because the building was a historical landmark, and they were mandated to restore certain elements of the theater instead of tearing them out.
