As I said on Facebook, I never got the point of the Tommy Maitland role. Obviously, I knew it was Mike in costume, I just thought having him play a character didn't make any sense, when you could get a naturally zany performer to host.

It might have been funnier if ABC announced that they were replacing Tommy Maitland with someone else ... who turned out to be a different character also portrayed by Mike Myers.
Wayne Campbell. He'll say every act was "Excellent!!!". And maybe he'll try to play "Stairway to Heaven" with one of the acts.
