With Pyramid taping underway, ABC has released this season's list of celebrity players, courtesy of Futon Critic ...

As usual, there's a smattering of strong players (Najimy, Gasteyer), new faces who may do well (Richter, Kevin Smith) and a few who may be cringe inducing (the over-under of explaining to Kellie Pickler how the game works could be about 3 hours.)

One interesting name on the list is Rita Moreno, who appeared on "Pyramid" many times during the Clark and Davidson eras. And at 86, she may be the oldest celebrity "Pyramid" player ever.

I'm a bit surprised Terry Crews returns...IIRC, he did pretty badly on his first appearance. However, the fact that celebrities are returning from prior seasons is becoming a little reminiscent for the Clark era. Matter of fact, is Rita Moreno the first celebrity from the Clark/Cullen/Davidson era to also do this version? I believe some Donnymid celebs have appeared here.

This afternoon my friend and I saw two tapings. The first show had Richard Schiff and Nicholas Gonzalez, both of The Good Doctor. Second show had Olympians Gabby Douglas and Johnny Weir. Johnny looked quite interesting. I will say no more.

Took a field trip to NYC to see the final taping today. The waiver said not to even disclose which celebs are on the episodes I saw, but I will say that they were all very funny and, with one exception (who basically seemed to just check-out halfway through the show for some reason), decent game players. One episode featured a mildly controversial clue in the Winner's Circle as well as a front-game incident that will probably be heavily censored/edited when it airs. Kudos to the 1iota audience wrangling team who were all great, as well as Tom the warmup act who was also hilarious. Michael Strahan came down to interact with the audience during breaks as well and was very personable and friendly. All in all an awesome experience.

There were strong hints that it would be the season premiere. No idea which half though.
