You know, a coupla decades ago, when NBC told Alex's secretary, to tell her secretary, to leave a message on Alex Trebek's answering machine, and then Alex CALLED NBC, and they preceded to cancel Classic Concentration OVER THE PHONE, Alex Trebek thought a big cloud was lifted over him.

Because gone were the days when Alex would go, how about we keep Classic Concentration on NBC? How about we make NBC the hottest network for daytime game shows? And they go, " Naw, Alex. We're just gonna keep Classic concentration in the vault for right now!"

Classic Concentration is off the air. And Alex goes, HEY NBC, can we air this on GSN?" And NBC goes, "Naw Alex! We're just gonna keep your show in the vault for now!"

hen Alex goes, "Can we air this show on BUZZR?" It was so great back in my--" And NBC goes,

"Naw, we're just gonna keep this on the shelf for now!" Then the phone starts ringing off the hook, it's GSN, it's Buzzr, it's G4, it's Decades, and all NBC executives have to do, is make a decision!

Ron Garfield, whether he mortgaged his house one time, maybe two times, maybe three times, came up with the right figure for NBC  to air Classic Concentration on his network.

Classic Concentration showed viewers what a true game show is supposed to do. What a true game show is supposed to be! Classic Concentration is gonna be the very show that classic game show fans asked for! Because there's no one...NO ONE, in NBC that can stop it!

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

“We’re game show fans. ‘Weird’ comes with the territory.” - Matt Ottinger, 2022

I came into this thread expecting a video, or a link to a story, or...I dunno, some kind of news article, maybe.

Instead, I was served word salad.

Seriously, dude...for your own sake, don't post anymore.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Curious, I clicked on his Apple Music link.

We shall never speak of this again.

You guys never saw Steve Austin's ECW promo, which I was referencing...

...as if you genuinely expected the average GSF'er to have seen this?  :-\

Please, Jonathan, take Steve's advice sooner than later.

I watched quite a bit of wrestling in the late-90s and still wouldn’t have gotten the reference. That is beyond obscure.

If I have to watch a 7-minute-long video to understand this, I'm pretty sure it's not worth understanding.

I'm a game show fan and a wrestling fan. I became a fan in 1989, became addicted, and didn't miss a minute throughout the 1990s. Not just a wrestling fan...for the past nine years, I've written a column at 411mania.com called "The Name on the Marquee" where I watch classic wrestling, some of which is actually stuff I saw when it first aired.

I didn't get the reference.
