Would YOU Like To Be "Queen for a Day"?
« on: February 04, 2004, 12:08:11 PM »
...you have the chance again. Phil Gurin ("The Weakest Link") is attempting a comeback of the old testimonial series hosted by Jack Bailey. The program would air on Lifetime.

More info at

The first ones they may wanna call are anyone who's had a Lifetime TV movie based on them.

Lifetime's web site now has contestant information and a PDF application for the nominator (the application emphasizes that the nominator should keep this a secret from the nominee--no exceptions).

The five finalists for the show will receive a prize valued at $5,000, with the winner receiving an additional prize valued at $25,000 [Bob Eubanks] and chosen especially for you.[BE]  No previous show requirements are required--the only other restrictions are the usual restrictions regarding employment with the producers, network or Sullivan/Skycastle and their subsids or parent companies.  They also don't want performing union members--sounds like they want to keep out the people who try out for every reality show.

Another article said that Lifetime had been working for over a year to acquire the rights--the application does have on it "'Queen for a Day' is a registered trademark of Raymond Morgan, Jr."

It'll be interesting to see who they get to intone the famous catch phrase (and Gurin would be a fool if he *didn't* include it).  I would personally love to see Betty White get the show--despite her age, those "Golden Girls" reruns are among Lifetime's most popular shows and you know she'd go a good job.

It's Lifetime 2004, I'm thinking Gina St. John or Kelly Ripa.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

The first ladies only game show since "Who Knows You Best" back in 2000.  And if Betty White does host, don't forget the Ford Mustang convertible (LOL)!

When was the last gentlemens only game show?  On broadcast, that honor goes to Grandstand back in 1988.

There is NO truth to the rumor that the new version will use male contestants and be taped in West Hollywood, California, and that the audience will decide which contestant is the real -- OK, you get the picture.

The emcee of Q4AD has to be empathetic to the contestants, which Eubanks is not. I could see Jim Perry in this role but he would never, ever be cast.

If the show were "Queen Every Day", then it's a possibility. Rosie could be his announcer! Yeah, right.

An old George Carlin routine immediately comes to mind:

JACK BAILEY:  How would YOU--like to BE--QUEEN FOR A DAY?

EFFEMINATE MALE VOICE:  OH, WOULD I!
