Hosts with shows on all Big 3 networks
« on: April 03, 2019, 12:06:25 AM »
We've occasionally discussed game shows that have aired on the "Big 3" networks (off the top of my head, I don't think any shows have aired on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX*), but how about hosts who appeared on the Big 3?

-Bill Cullen: TPiR on ABC and NBC, Three on a Match, Hot Potato on NBC, Child's Play on CBS
-Peter Tomarken: Bargain Hunters on ABC, PYL on CBS, Hit Man on NBC
-Bob Eubanks: Newlywed Game, Trivia Trap on ABC, Card Sharks on CBS, Dream House on NBC
-Monty Hall: LMAD on ABC, Video Village on CBS?, LMAD, It's Anybody's Guess on NBC
-Tom Kennedy: You Don't Say! on ABC, Body Language on CBS, Password Plus, Wordplay on NBC
-Allen Ludden: Password (Plus) on all three

That's just a few I recall...obviously it's not the hosts' entire resume, just enough to fit all three networks

*/Unless Big Deal counts as part of the LMAD franchise
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Alex Trebek:
Double Dare (CBS), Super Jeopardy (ABC), Battlestars (NBC)
Dick Clark:  Scattergories (NBC), Winning Lines (CBS), The $20,000 Pyranid (ABC).  If you want to count Challenge of the Child Geniuses, then Dick has hosted game shows on all four networks.

I honestly think this list will be fairly limited in scope; not that it's a problem.

Bert Convy (if you count People Do the Craziest Things and acting roles)
Merv Griffin (Play Your Hunch on all 3)

Pretty sure "Village" was CBS. Also, "All-New Beat the Clock".
There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.

Alex Trebek:
Double Dare (CBS), Super Jeopardy (ABC), Battlestars, The Wizard of Odds, High Rollers, Classic Concentration, and To Tell The Truth (NBC)
Dick Clark:  Scattergories (NBC), Winning Lines and $25,000 Pyramid (CBS), $20,000 Pyramid, Missing Links, and The Object Is (ABC).  If you want to count Challenge of the Child Geniuses, then Dick has hosted game shows on all four networks.
Fixed it for you.

But in the mid-80s, Dick Clark was busier of the two with $25,000 Pyramid, Bloopers, and American Bandstand, plus $100,000 Pyramid in syndication.

You didn't fix anything. As Brandon said, "Just enough to fit on all three networks". There was no need for you to, once again I might add, show off how much you know. Most of us know what you said already anyway.

If only Pat O'Brien would have been given a chance to host a game show, no doubt he'd have been on this awesome list too. That guy's great.

He has a trifecta of hosting the Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA Finals.  And is a noted voicemail leaver.  That certainly qualifies him.
