That's what I was thinking. People are far more searchable than they were even 10 years ago, but having only a first name to with the face gives the contestants a little more of a choice to come out into the social media hellworld only if they want to.

I remember watching a late '50s/early '60s game, probably on Jamie's GS Vault, where they had a home viewer contest. The host pulled the card and read the viewer's first name, last name, and address on the air. I literally can't process a time when that would have been okay.

Price Is Right did that for home viewer showcases. And referred to women by their husbands' names: "Mrs. Harold J. Manischewitz of 244-18 Queens Blvd., Brooklyn 47, NY." At least they stopped short of giving out people's phone numbers.

In the mid-70s, Let's Make A Deal mentioned home addresses for that short period when celebrities played for at-home players.

They also, for trips, gave the winner the addresses (off air) of the contestants that were beat, so that a postcard from vacation could be mailed to them.

Back in the day, you could get a complete list of contest winners by sending an SASE.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Play classic PYL with three players, three questions per round.

Fewer spins in the deciding round could hurt the chances of having a really good game, though, and the half hour (if Monday is any indication) would still be pretty tight.

My idea is scrap first rounds and play three one-round games in the hour. Three new contestants in each of the first two games with Big Bucks set at $10,000, then the two winners face off in the third game--this is a duel on ABC!--for Jaguars and higher stakes.

That did come to mind, Neumms, and an increase in the number of spaces with a free spin in the second round could take care of that issue. But anything that could keep the bonus game to 15 minutes or less is welcome. These suggestions are moot, though, since they're not likely to change anything this season. When this run is done and ABC or some other entity thinks there's still a future for the show, they might try more ideas then and see how they test.

A lady I went to church with was a contestant on Pyramid in the mid-80s.  She had all kinds of wack-a-doos reaching out to her when GSN reran her episodes a few years ago.  In fairness, I've known her for about 10 years and she knew I loved GS - and I never made the connection until she mentioned the wack-a-doos.

True on all counts. Getting rid of the bonus is ideal, of course, since it's not television's most competitive game while they're not competing with anyone.

Perhaps I'm misremembering, but did the June 19 episode change its opening spiel back to the '80s verbatim original, restoring the words about "the most exciting game of their lives"?

You remember correctly.

Interestingly, my DVR claims that was episode 107, so ostensibly the seventh taped. Wonder if that figures into it.

Unless the voiceover was added in post, when they knew the order of the shows.

Considering the other episodes aired were 104 and 108 I'm thinking it's added in post
