Do we know whether Pyramid is dead or alive?
« on: February 10, 2004, 10:05:17 PM »
So I was cleaning out my non-primary e-mail inbox, and found an e-mail that had been forwarded to me with the subject line "Pyramid was cancelled." The body of the message was information on how to try out for "Deal or No Deal" (the auditions have since passed, so no point in repeating it). And in the body, it's repeated that Pyramid has been cancelled.

I don't recognize the name of the person that forwarded the e-mail to me, but their address is from "Deal or No Deal"'s production company. Here's what I'm thinking: A few months ago, I tried out for "Pyramid" (and failed miserably) and gave them that e-mail address. Perhaps somebody who worked for "Pyramid" is now working for "Deal or No Deal," grabbed a database of auditioners' e-mail addresses, and sent the information along.

Which would mean that, if the person that sent me this had some sort of connection with "Pyramid," then the fact that the e-mail says "Pyramid was cancelled" is a fair indication of the show's fate. 'Cause I can't think of anybody else who has contacted me through this e-mail address that would tell a member of "Deal or No Deal"'s production company to forward audition information to me.

I believe I read an article saying that Stephen Brown (executive producer on "Pyramid") is working with "Deal or No Deal."
"I just wanna give a shoutout to my homies in their late-30s who are watching this on Paramount+ right now, cause they couldn't stay up late enough to watch it live!"

I haven't heard any official word on Pyramid. All I know at the moment is what I have read on the donny.com site today from Donny's latest newsletter:

"First off, a huge "Thank You" for the efforts and support that you all went through on the "Save Pyramid" campaign. The response was unbelievable! I think we surprised a lot of people with the calls and letters. We still don't know what will happen to the show at this point, but it's really out of our hands now. I've received reports that stations are being hounded by people not even associated with donny.com with the news of its potential cancellation. I still can't believe it.

As I watched the "Friends" episode the other night, which I thought was pretty funny, it was a bitter/sweet experience to see the show, the set, the game. I sure enjoyed Pyramid while it lasted. Something else is around the corner though, I'm sure of it."

http://www.donny.com/s-16603045780119/news...cmd=view&nid=50

And yes, Stephen Brown, producer of Pyramid, is the producer of "Deal or No Deal". I think it's interesting that you got that email Scott. I passed all the auditions for Pyramid and have been on their contestant list all season waiting to be called, yet I got no such email. (And I know Pyramid has my email address as I have received emails from them before.) So maybe Stephen Brown didn't want to contact Pyramid's fully qualified contestants, on the chance that Pyramid is not 100% for sure cancelled. (Despite what it said in your email.)

Just a thought. After all, there's been no final word from Sony on this. Maybe they are waiting to see what the ratings for sweeps are.

Pyramid is dead.

And this is true:

I believe I read an article saying that Stephen Brown (executive producer on "Pyramid") is working with "Deal or No Deal."
Stephen took some Pyramid staffers with him.

another candidate for funniest post of the year!

..and P.S. - didn't that "road" also go through Michigan? WOOD-TV 8 carries Pyramid in our neck of the woods. Should we post a watch for you-know-who here?

The latest ratings are not that bad. But judging by fostergray's rant, it doesn't negate the need for some industrial strength psychotropic medication... stat!

Wheel of Fortune (10.1)
Jeopardy (8.2)
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (4.2)
Family Feud (3.3)
Pyramid (2.5)
The Hollywood Squares (2.1)
Blind Date (1.8)
Elimidate (1.7)
Street Smarts (1.5)
Extreme Dating and 5th Wheel (1.4 each)

Ohh, no, no...that was simply a parody. There's another member of the board who ranted about something-or-other, using the style of posting which I displayed above.

I'd never let a game show get me *that* upset...unless Fremantle chooses Dan Rosen over you. ;-)

Actually, I thought Howard Dean had gotten on the board.  He may have the time soon.

It would be interesting to see what kind of bump Pyramid gets now that the Friends episode with Joey appearing on the program has appeared twice in six days.  I'm pretty sure some people weren't even aware it was on the air, and this would certainly point it out.  (And no one noted Match Game and Win, Lose, or Draw were also mentioned within that episode.)

I'm expecting Wesley Clark to join sometime soon.

ObGS: Whoever wins the presidency in November, I hope he can make me employable again.  Otherwise, I may have to consider going on a game show to avoid going broke.
