GSN Teams with ePrize to Draw Viewers with 'Millionaire Madness,' The Internet's First Million-Dollar Instant Win Game

Theme Plays Off Network's 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?'

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The first Web-based million-dollar instant win game is off and running on GSN, the Network for Games, with a million-dollar theme aptly mirroring the network's nightly broadcasts of 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?'  Creative, technical and administrative services are being provided by ePrize, a Detroit-based interactive promotion specialist that has unique instant-win technology that qualifies for the necessary $1 million insurance backing.

GSN's "Millionaire Madness" campaign is designed to build the audience for "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" as well as to boost participation in the network's interactive sync-to-broadcast games, which allow viewers to play online in real time as game shows are televised.  The promotion gives viewers a chance to win $1 million, or more than 230 other prizes ranging from a Vespa Piaggio LT50 motor scooter to a Sony Ericsson T606 phone.

New viewers earn one chance to win by registering at http://www.gsn.com . Extra incentives are offered to the network's more than 1.5 million interactive game players, who receive one instant win opportunity for each sync-to-broadcast game they play during the two-month promotion.  Would-be winners can play the instant win game up to 24 times daily, choosing among four animated bank safes that appear on-screen immediately after registering on the site or completing an interactive game.

"We have been extremely pleased with the performance of 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?' on our air," said Dena Kaplan, GSN's Senior Vice President of Marketing.  "Now we have taken the Millionaire concept to a new level: the opportunity for our viewers to play along at home for a chance to win one million dollars."

"A $1 million instant win jackpot has never been tried on the Internet before, in part because insurance underwriters have to be convinced that the technology is sufficiently sophisticated and secure to prevent hacking or erroneous awards," said Robb Lippitt, Chief Operating Officer of ePrize. "GSN's campaign is therefore a Web watershed that demonstrates the increasing value that marketers place on online contests."

GSN's $1 million game is being promoted on the air, online, and by email to registered viewers.

No purchase is necessary to participate.  The promotion runs from 12:01 AM Eastern Time (ET) on January 11, 2004, to 11:50 AM ET on March 12, 2004.  Open only to legal residents of the U.S. 13 and over.  Subject to Official Rules available at www.gsn.com .  Void where prohibited.
