Could have sworn they left this "blooper" in...

Just saw the expurgated intro of Karen Lesko during her brief appearance.  Gene made reference to his retake ("finally introducing...,"and "let's get this game started at last,") making no reference to Karen's pretty ni... er, DIMPLES.

I always thought that was removed from the original airing, but maybe restored on GSN?

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

I don't think it was ever part of the actual episode. Seen in plenty of blooper shows over the years though.

Nope.   GSN and Buzzr have aired the episode numerous times over the years - it's not part of the primary episode. They clearly re-shot Karen's intro (and you can tell everyone's in on a joke except the home audience, hence Gene's "Somehow Karen, I feel I know you very well") and mostly likely the original blooper made it's way onto the show's internal blooper reel where it lived until dug up years later.

If you ever watch the clip on the Fremantle-produced Game Show Moments Gone Bananas special (which was put out on DVD), even there the video and audio are a little rough and distorted - the footage definitely didn't survive on the broadcast master itself.

I'm thinking the Goodson-produced "TV's Funniest Game Show Moments" was the first time that clip was seen, and it was fairly rough-looking there as well.
