20/20 devotes tonight's show to Rodney Alcala, the Dating Game  Killer. (I did a post on the Investigation Discovery TV-movie some time ago.)

There was also a quite good podcast, though very detailed (in a sometimes graphic way), called The Dating Game Killer from Wondery about him.

I just watched. It was fascinating and disturbing.

For those interested, they interviewed Ellen and Mike Metzger, who worked on DG and other Chuck Barris Productions. Mike mentioned being very creeped out and reluctant to allow Rodney on the show. They also interviewed one of the other bachelors, who was equally creeped out. The Metzgers recall the bachelorette backing out of the date, which I misremembered. I always thought she went on the date, and that it was harmless.

Putting this related info here instead of starting a new thread...

Very Scary People on HLN will debut an episode about the Dating Game Killer tomorrow night, Sunday 5/23.

And now Netflix is doing a movie based on this, with Anna Kendrick set to play the contestant who won the date with him...
