Helen Mirren tapped to host Harry Potter quiz show

WarnerMedia wants to call it a "trivia event" or "competition series," but it sounds like a game show to me.

The show will air "later this year" on Cartoon Network, TBS and HBO Max.

Given Mirren's acting career, one can argue that she may be the performer with the most-prestigious resume to be called upon to host a game show.

If I'm not mistaken, only the second owner of an Oscar to host a game show, following Jamie Foxx.

Love it! Years ago, she was one of my dream picks to host syndie Weakest Link when that role was up in the air.
As a Harry Potter fan, I think this sounds pretty neat.

"News" should be when an actor/actress is not tapped to host a game show these days.
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.

Plus the first game show host to have appeared in a porn movie.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

That was one of the biggest entertainment stories of the summer, until. . .

"Competative"  winners yes, but Groucho has an honorary Oscar.

German Wheel of Fortune host Peter Bond would like a word.

Show just premiered last week. The game pits three players from each house against one another. The set is very nice, with both teams having their repsecive cheering sections in the balconies behind the podiums. Questions are what you'd expect, with some straightforward Q&A and Scene-It style questions mixed in. The one twist is that the supporters' sections play along in certain games throughout the show, with their right answers adding points to their team's score.

4 episodes will air- two semifinals, a wild card, and a final.

The game moves at a slower pace than I expected, but I think some of that can be attributed to Helen Mirren's slower, deliberate delivery. If you're a fan of HP, I think you'll find it enjoyable background noise, but nothing that you'll pay close attention to. Preview below.

Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.
