Frank, meanwhile, bought the rights to an old game show, "Stop the Music," and was developing a new edition for TV syndication. He had Word attend the daily run-throughs and report on how the show was shaping up. It was early September, the host was Patrick Wayne (the Duke's son), and "Stop the Music" wasn't jelling. Wayne was replaced with one of the producer's tennis buddies, ex-Tarzan Ron Ely. Word recalls being instantly impressed with Ely. The show, however, still wasn't working, So Frank gave up the rights to "Stop the Music" and called in a new pro-'ducer, David Levy, to start building from scratch a show they titled "Face the Music."

When GSN aired that Patrick Wayne episode of Celebrity Bullseye, I remember him mentioning that he hosted a pilot. Given the timeframe, I'm guessing this was the show.

For some reason, I also remember Steve Beverly mentioning a Stop the Music pilot around the same time. He cited Variety magazine as the source, but that blurb was from 20 years ago.
