Survey time:
How many of you believed, as I did, that the final player on Friday night's show was going to llama out since he was called to play shortly before the episode's conclusion?

I figured it would either be a Llama or they would cut the questions and skip to the third tier...

I was surprised they even had another contestant, I figured they were going to just have Regis tap dance through the last seven or so minutes...

I thought there was a chance. I was also hoping that they might do something out of the ordinary to round out the show--play a couple of extra Fastest Finger questions for $1000 each, for example. But considering that Regis had announced the return of the show in May, I didn't see why they couldn't make the guy wait for two months.

What would you do if you were that guy who knows he's going to be back in May?  Should he quit his job and do nothing but cram trivia for 3 months?  It's hard do do that knowing you only have a 2 in 10 chance of making it to the hot seat, but knowing you're already in...

I was thinking llama, particularly after what seemed like padding for the first contestant's time on camera.

I actually figured that the would bring him back for May... I thought it was particularly devilish but entertaining nonetheless!

Cheers,

Ryan :)

Ask Thom McKee--he had a 13-week (at least) break between tapings in the middle of his "TTD" reign of terror, due to the summer break.

And remember, since his stint hadn't officially ended yet, he knew he wouldn't be getting his winnings for at least another three months.  I'm sure the guy in the Hot Seat on "SM" knows completely that he won't be seeing that $5,000 + until June or so--but of course, he probably didn't expect to get in the Hot Seat anyway.

I figured they would run it extended unannounced like they did with the celeb episode with Norm McDonald. That ran until about 10:10 unannounced, if I remember correctly.
Either that ep or some other did, but I remember that it kept on playing right through the first 8 or 9 minutes of ER.

No, but he might do well to curtail most other leisure activities and study areas where he's not so strong.  By golly, I'd be getting seriously into geography, political history, and pop radio...

If that's the case, 3 months is a LONG time to "prepare" for the return trip.  I wonder if he'll pay airfare a 2nd time when he comes back?  And then there's the lay-off factor but I won't worry about that untill May.

*thinking what the heck llama means* Oh!

[raises hand]

Not knowing they are coming back in May (which I like), I had assumed they'd do something to cut it short. But it didn't happen.

Isn't it possible that they'll tape the remainder of his questions now, and edit them into the first episode in May?  They just won't show the new Fastest-Finger contestants until after he finishes his run in the Hot Seat - or just edit in their faces.
