Reality TV Pays
American Idol and even the Lingerie Bowl have nothing on this reality competition. In Demand LLC hopes it's created a lucrative franchise around Silhouette Productions LLC's new pay-per-view series, Can You Be A Pornstar?
The eight-episode skein pits four women a week in various "competitions," including photo shoots, interviews and "surprises," for the chance to win a contract with a porno studio and $100,000.
Viewers "vote" for a winner each week from the show, which teasingly promises "uninhibited nudity and sizzling sexuality."
Early estimates were the Jan. 8 premiere, and several replays, drew around 50,000 buys. At $9.95 per biweekly event, In Demand and operators could rake in some nice change.
The current version, on the event channel, is rated TV-MA, but look for more explicit encore presentations on adult channels later in the year.
