I don't doubt the authenticity of the items (years ago, I saw that Hit Me set piece loaded on a trailer), but I'd like to call attention to the description of briefcase 24 from Deal or No Deal. . I don't doubt that Heritage Auctions got that particular briefcase from some official source, but I don't think it's the briefcase that Markle opened.

IIRC, Meghan was usually with suitcase #10.

However, I remember the typeface on the exterior of the briefcases being some kind of Helvetica, which is confirmed by doing an image search for pictures from the show -- including pictures of Meghan Markle standing next to briefcase 24. I don't doubt that Heritage Auctions got that particular briefcase from some official source, but I don't think it's the briefcase that Markle opened.

This was my immediate thought on seeing the item. I'm trying to think where a not-quite-real case like that could come from. Maybe a promotional event or some.sort.of.lottery tie-in?

EDIT: Browsed the listings a bit and there's an alleged dartboard from the set of "Cheers" that is clearly one of those cheap LCD soft-tip electronic ones, the kind widely available at retail stores... but only for the last 20-25 years. I wonder if there are any other hinky listings.

I've just started going through it (there are 976 items) and already came across several GS pieces including WML? Mystery Guest signatures, a TorC contestant costume, and some objects of uncertain provenance (with very reasonable guesses provided). I'm sure there are many more. Have fun killing a slow afternoon at work.

Yeah, the bids on some of this stuff are nuts.  I get one-of-a-kind costume or set pieces, but here are four board games you could just go ahead and buy individually on Ebay and pay less for in total than the current bid.
