GSN greenlights "Hey Yahoo!"
« on: March 21, 2023, 12:39:06 PM »
https://deadline.com/2023/03/tom-cavanagh-host-hey-yahoo-game-show-network-1235305261/

Hosted by actor Tom Cavanaugh (The Flash, Ed), this show, scheduled to premiere this summer, pits teams of three in a battle to determine what "millions of people" are searching for on Yahoo. (*). Winning team will then advance to the bonus game to compete for the GSN-required $10,000.

(*) At this point, I presume all Yahoo searches consist of "Does Yahoo still exist?" and "No, seriously. Is it really still around?"

Plus, I'd reckon even DuckDuckGo was asking too much for license fees.

I was laid off from Yahoo (for a second time) in April 2016 -- and most of my former team is still employed there somehow.

Sometimes at work, I need to link to a generic URL because our authoring tool is funky (welcome to Microsoft, here's your accordion), and in order to create the link you ACTUALLY want (usually to a settings page within Windows, or to launch an app), it's easier to make a link to anywhere and then edit the link in source. For no reason at all I use Yahoo.

This is literally the only time I even *think* of Yahoo in my day to day life anymore.

This GSN extravaganza will debut sometime in June. They ran a promo during the April 19 airing of Split Second.

The big day is here. GSN is running two episodes of this back-to-back every evening.
