They're back to the premiere on tonight's (6/16) 7 PM airing, for those who care.

And in Norfolk, our PAX affiliate airs a repeat of WAVY's 6 pm news at 7, so I'd be screwed.

That's a new one. I've never heard of a news station reairing a broadcast an hour after it aired but whatever.

That's nothing. WVEC, the ABC affiliate, has a sister station on our cable lineup, Local News on Cable (LNC-5). Throughout the day, they air repeats of earlier newscasts back-to-back-to-back, and during the WVEC live (noon, 5/5:30/6 pm, etc) newscasts, LNC also airs the same newscast. LNC also has their own newscast at 10 pm, in connection with the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. But enough off-topic talk. :-)

ObGameShows: WVEC replaced Hollywood Squares with a 5:30 pm newscast in fall 2001.

Here the local NBC rebroadcasts their 6PM at 630 on PAX.  And the 10PM rebroadcasts at 1030......that's right, kids!  Right as the real news is ending.

Didn't this become widespread when NBC bought a stake in PAX? Our pax reruns the 11pm NBC news at 11:30...

Then again, they need all of the help they can get (Pax AND NBC Hartford!)

Pittsburgh's WPXI has the Pittsburgh Cable News Network (PCNC).  It will air live newscasts when WPXI airs them (usually) and will rerun the latest news throughout the day.  They also have some original programming (call in shows, etc) and have their own 7AM and 10pm local news.  Actually not a bad setup for people like myself... who couldn't care less.

12 years ago, I interned at independent station WTMV in Tampa (now WMOR).  Weeknights at 7:00, they reaired the 6:00 news from then-CBS affiliate WTVT.  WTVT would messenger a copy of their newscast on a 3/4-inch tape across town to WTMV's studio.  If the tape didn't make it there in the half-hour allotted, which happened about once a week, WTMV had to go to their backup:  their off-air VHS recording of the WTVT newscast!

ObGameShows:  At the time, WTMV also picked up "Family Feud Challenge," which WTVT didn't air, but in that case, they could take it directly from the CBS satellite feed.

Where I lived, PAX-61(not sure of its call letters) airs the rebrodcast of the NBC10(again, unsure of call letters) 6 pm news at 7 pm & the rebrodcast of the 11 pm news at 11:30 pm.  They've been doing that for several years now.

As people have said, seems to be a common occurence with PAX stations...

In Scranton, WQPX-64 (their PAX affiliate) airs a rebroadcast of WNEP-16 (ABC)'s 6:00 news at 7 p.m. Although that probably may not continue much longer - rumor has it that WNEP will have their own 7 p.m. newscast pretty soon...

ObGameShow: WNEP never carried MG90.

Nothing new. We have a station (KONG, channel 6), that runs the KING-5 news (which airs at 11), at 10:00P.

(You can figure out the temporal issues yourself.)
