Syndie Millionaire Gets Green Light for Season 3
« on: March 14, 2004, 05:50:29 AM »
I first saw this on GSNN-Daytime Hub before tv-gameshows.net got the story & I figured this was no surprise:

Syndie WWTBAM has been green-lighted for a 3rd season.  With ratings averaging 3.7 this season coupled that with Meredith Vierra's first Daytime Emmy nomination, Buena-Vista has cleared the show through 2005 in most markets.  No word on when new shows for next seaon will start taping, but I presume the 3rd season will premiere around mid-September 2004.

And Meredith Vieira will soon hold the record for a female's longest tenure as a game show host.

Which is kind of sad when you think about it, and this makes my 200th post!

This is really great news.  Meredith is a great host, and I congratulate her for breaking the female host/show length record.

BTW, the previous record-holder in that category is Vicki Lawerence who hosted the NBC version of Win, Lose or Draw for 2 seasons.  Congrats Meredith, & may you'll have many more years in show biz.

I'm not sure if this has been done before, but it might be a good time to list all the female game show hosts:

-Merideth Viera ("Millionaire")
-Anne Robinson ("Weakest Link")
-Brooke Burns ("Dog Eat Dog")
-Karyn Bryant ("Name That Video")
-Annie Wood ("Bzzz")
-Vicki Lawrence ("Win Lose or Draw")
-Elaine Joyce ("Dating Game")
-Betty White ("Just Men")

Any that I've forgotten?

How long did Summer Sanders' "Figure It Out" last?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Yes, several.  Female game show hosts are no longer the novelty they once were.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

3 Seasons, I think...but far fewer episodes per season than WWTBAM.

Seemed to me that the typical Nick order for a cycle was 65 episodes, meaning that "Figure It Out" ran for 195 episodes.  Most Nick game shows only ran for two cycles or 130 episodes, although "Make the Grade" did go to 195 (130 in New York with Lew Schneider and 65 in Florida with Robb Morris) and "Double Dare" ran to over 500 (with some oddball orders along the way and 200-some broadcast syndicated shows).

Is the predominately white male thing an American phenomenon?  Hasn't the UK had several female hosts?

Karyn Bryant also hosted a show on Lifetime about knowing your best friend (can't remember it's name)

The show on Lifetime was Who Knows You Best? in 2000-01, but was hosted by Gina St. John, not Karyn Bryant.
