Who is still living? (Hollywood Squares through 1981)
« on: August 15, 2024, 04:32:42 PM »
With Peter Marshall's passing, who, from that show, is still alive?  Semi-regulars only, not a giant list of people who were on for a week.

John Davidson still performs weekly at his club in Sandwich, NH (called, appropriately, Club Sandwich), for a few more months.  Karen Valentine, Ruta Lee, Jimmie Walker, Robert Fuller, Demond Wilson, and Rich Little are still with us, as long as someone retrieved Rich before the Tropicana closed.  I'm sure there are others who would qualify.

I'd add Sandy Duncan in there, and maybe Charo.

Leslie Uggams posted a touching tribute to Peter on Threads, and included a picture of them on “Fantasy”. I’d include her.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

Jo Anne Worley, Barbara Eden, June Lockhart and Shirley Jones all made semi-regular appearances, and are all still with us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but now at 99, June Lockhart is (still) the oldest living person who appeared on Marshall's HSq in any capacity.

Lynn Redgrave died quite a few years ago.  Vanessa is the one who's still alive.

My mistake.  I will pull that from the list.

I know Leno was a frequent panelist on MG/HS Hour, but was unaware that he was also on the Marshall version of Squares.

Similarly, whenever I watch an old Match Game rerun, I'll think to myself "Mercy, the entire panel has passed away!" which, given some episodes were from 50 years ago or more shouldn't be so shocking...anymore what shocks me is when as many or more of the panelists ARE still among the living.

I know Deidre Hall from Days of our Lives appeared on Marshall's squares, but I think she may have appeared with Jed Allan who has since passed away.  She may have also appeared with Wayne Northrop who I believe is still alive.

Similarly another Days of our Lives super-couple, Susan-Seaforth Hayes appeared on Squares with her husband Bill who just passed away this past January, but Susan is still alive.

Country singer Barbara Mandrell is still with us and also appeared on Marshall's Squares too.

Are any Squares episodes with Leno or Letterman floating around the interwebs? (Besides Leno on MGHSH?) Letterman could have been really funny or just put out by it.

Thank you heaps! Dave wasn’t in a groove, but it seemed like he was trying.
