Your most resonant game show music....
« on: September 02, 2024, 04:20:28 PM »
What GS music just really unexplainably hits you, making you feel really happy to hear it?
I think the joy I get from Bullseye closing is a matter of public record at this point, so I'll say that the Elaine Joyce's New Dating Game closing really makes me want to dance.

This isn't necessarily intended to be an A/V thread, I just felt the need to give the live example  ;D

I agree that version of TANDG rocked!!! When they went to the watered-down mix during Jeff MacGregor's reign, it took a lot of the fun out of the show's.theme.

"The Last Word" and "Make the Grade" are my top bangers. I could say the same about a lot from the Score and Kalehoff camps, though.

If we count stock music, "The Mad Dash"'s theme would be up there too.
There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.

I think a lot of game show cues I enjoy only strike me with warm fuzzies because of the strong nostalgia I associate with them (I generally don't care for '80s synth, but I never recoil from the Press Your Luck theme). Objectively, the fee version of "Bhen" from The Price Is Right isn't a particularly exemplary piece of music, but darned if it doesn't put a smile on my face every time I hear it. It's so peppy!

I gotta go with this as well.

As much as I love think music and themes, I don't know if there is a more aesthetically beautiful piece used for a game show than Rondo from A Little Night Music, which forms the theme tune of BBC Radio Four's Brain of Britain.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

As mentioned, the title theme from The Mad Dash is a certified Banger™.

I get the warm fuzzies from a bunch of the old Price cues as well. Can't find a YouTube link at the moment, but there's something about the cue named "Robert" from the 1976 reel that makes me oddly happy when I hear it.

I've been on an Italian game show kick lately, and some of Augusto Martelli's themes are fabulous.

And, in a similar vein, ELP's take on "Fanfare for the Common Man." It was used as the theme for Top of the Form in Britain for a while.

"Splendido," without question and without fail.

The original "Tattle Tales" theme does my heart good, too, particularly in the B section.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop with those two.

The original $10,000 Pyramid theme...it tells me something big is going to happen; also the original Jeopardy theme was always comforting

Blackout and the NBC Daytime 1970's Hollywood Squares theme are ones I repeat on my audio devices a few times in a row.
