I should make clear - I am far from an industry insider. That said, I read the linked article, and two items jumped out at me:
Fremantle is betting big on letters, acquiring international production and distribution rights to “Scrabble,” the gameshow adaptation of Hasbro and Mattel’s iconic wordplay board game that has been performing well for The CW since its October launch.
This seems to me to be saying that Fremantle bought the rights to try to sell the CW Scrabble format outside the US, and that this deal has nothing to do with the show Chuck Woolery hosted.
The acquisition bolsters Fremantle’s portfolio of legacy game show formats, joining other recognizable titles like “The Price is Right,” “Deal or No Deal,” and “Family Feud.”
Fremantle owns Deal Or No Deal? Did I miss something?
