New book about old stuff
« on: March 03, 2025, 03:42:21 PM »
I stumbled across a new book, that has just become available from Bear Manor Media (publisher of most of Adam Nedeff's books), called "Truth and Consequences: The Quiz Show Scandals of the 1950s and Their Aftermath" by David Inman.

https://www.amazon.com/Truth-Consequences-Scandals-1950s-Aftermath/dp/B0DYYW8FHY/ref=sr_1_2?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4QIXJ07EdDDZ_0rwMHmuIglX9z0ofnsnB7SB_wmiu4a0tKtP6CU0tVwKkEDzCvX8RN3KOnwcqhUO5z5BOULpshpBnKuRpWOcTx39wSjyMHi4rgbMo16dyGUEGtq3ew4xZQK5YtOMt1tvSFnHunveaPkDq35e-8Ab730pmG60MCOKKMvDAMsjLTtJkLVOc227XAnbcb4PqZOUUI-rcvuAZGhec-TCHm42BsdSJxpoL6c.w9gCyw_fTkjgdpjAWkT7CEiATCTw0vveMAiOsVpR_jc&dib_tag=se&keywords=truth+and+consequences&qid=1741032810&sr=8-2

I think the ultimate book on this subect would be "Prime Time and Misdemeanors: Investigating the 1950s TV Quiz Scandal A D.A.'s Account" by Joseph Stone, who was involved with the case.  This book was published over 30 years ago, and is no longer in print, but anyone interested in it may find a used copy someplace,

Another book with same main title, but different sub-title came out a few years ago, called "Truth and Consequences: Game Shows in Fiction and Film" by Mike Miley

https://www.amazon.com/Truth-Consequences-Game-Shows-Fiction/dp/149682539X/ref=sr_1_15?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4QIXJ07EdDDZ_0rwMHmuIglX9z0ofnsnB7SB_wmiu4a0tKtP6CU0tVwKkEDzCvX8RN3KOnwcqhUO5z5BOULpshpBnKuRpWOcTx39wSjyMHi4rgbMo16dyGUEGtq3ew4xZQK5YtOMt1tvSFnHunveaFHDKA7_30VOGEtbzCvX64XfFHuS2swsvKftoUxs9n-wXAnbcb4PqZOUUI-rcvuAZGhec-TCHm42BsdSJxpoL6c.8XIw4ySht1xxVu6WINnnDYqEAj3JCFvyvxChOvzff1M&dib_tag=se&keywords=truth+and+consequences&qid=1741034026&sr=8-15

If you go to amazon.com, and look up these entries, you can see what the respective authors titled their chapters, and see the differences in the books.

I read it on archive.org after the 2023 passing of Robert Noah, whose novel on the same subject was also available there.
