A few LMAD '85 questions
« on: April 14, 2004, 10:50:54 PM »
I have a few questions about LMAD right now.

1. Where is GSN in the run? I'm thinking somewhere around March/April '85 by now.

2. When will we start seeing Pontiacs(like the Firebird and the Fiero) on the show, especially in Door #4?

3. On the subject of Door #4, when did they start the camera zooming in and out when the siren sounded?

4. Did Brian leave RIGHT when the second season started, or before then?

Answers would be welcome, and thanks.

 1. THey're in April, so look for Geoff Edwards to guest host a week of shows in the next couple of weeks.

2. THere was a Fiero win on Door #4 late in season one.

4. Brian left the show after the first season ended, Dean Goss became the new announcer on the 1985-86 season premiere.

Speaking of the Door #4 signal, I've seen episodes where there were a bunch of 4s laid out in a square pattern & flashing from white to various shades of either purple or blue.  They were animated to create a chaselights pattern.  I think that occured in the '85-'86 season.

I remember the Fiero win. GSN *accidentally* aired this ep. earlier in the run.

Not that I recall. He did some cartoon voiceovers after his LMAD tenure ended.

IIRC, it was Jerry Bishop [Judge Judy] that did the Family Channel's VO's.
There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.

"Some" being an overstatement, considering that he's been doing Winnie-the-Pooh for at least the last 15 years for Disney, among many others.

There was also an effect where the camera would zoom in-and-out on Monty's face.

We've been through this before.  That was Jim Cummings who did WtP.

He did DuckTales though; I specifically remember Brian's name appearing on the credits, and wondering if it was the LMaD announcer.

Thanks for the information on the Family Channel Voiceovers.  BTW, Jerry Bishop announced The $25k Pyramid (Clark) as well as being a sub announcer for 1970s Crosswits.

Here in NY, it aired on WCBS (Ch. 2) at 9 AM its 1st season and moved to WOR (now WWOR, Ch. 9) at either 2 or 2:30 PM for the 2nd.

2PM in 1985-86 on WWOR.

Philly saw it on KYW at 4PM and later 4:30PM for season one, and KYW at 12:30PM for most of season two. On 5/5/86, KYW replaced LMAD8x with $1 Million CoaL.

Pittsburgh saw it at 5:30PM on WPXI in season one, and at 11AM on WPXI for at least part of season two.
