"TV Land Moguls"

TV Land is beginning a new series this week called "Moguls", about very well-known and prolific tv producers (Lucy & Desi, Norman Lear, etc.)

Does anyone know if there will be an episode about Goodson-Todman, or possibly Barris or Merv Griffin?

No, although Merv will host the series.

Game shows are not the focus of TV Land and never have been.  Also, it turns out that each episode doesn't focus on one particular "mogul" but instead spotlights a decade and the "moguls" that were associated with that era.  There are six episodes covering the 50s through the 90s (the 70s gets two episodes).

Each episode (starting tomorrow 4/21 with the 50s) is followed by some representative shows that look interesting, including stuff that either has never been on TV Land or hasn't been on in a long time. (Star Trek, The Fugitive, Make Room For Daddy)

G-T never had a non-gs hit, with the possible exeception of "Branded."  TV Land could dredge up "The Web," "The Rebel," "The Richard Boone Show," "Jefferson Drum" or "The Don Rickles Show." while touching very lightly on their main focus.  Of course, nobody would be interested but it could be done.  EDIT: Just checked the sked, they'll be showing the Odd Couple "Password" ep, so for me, that will suffice.

The G-T "Don Rickles Show" was *supposed* to be a game show.  It just didn't, for one reason or another (mostly for letting Rickles ad lib all over the place in the first shows and never getting to whatever game it was going to be, even though the contestants were seated onstage while Rickles ravaged sidekick Pat McCormick, bandleader Vic Mizzy (yep, the guy who wrote the "Green Acres" and "Addams Family" themes), "band singer" Inga Nielsen (who never sang), the band and the audience.  As a result, we never found out what kind of game it was going to be.

And "The Richard Boone Show" (repertory company in anthology drama series with Clifford Odets supervising the writing) has Trio written all over it, if it's around.
