I think Viacom distributed Remote Control, as they were already owning MTV at the time. As a matter of fact, Viacom also distributed MTV's Top 10 Video Countdown (?) to local stations in the mid-1980s, soon after they bought MTV's group of channels.
All Nickelodeon shows that were syndicated to local stations, from Double Dare and Finders Keepers, to the seasonal Nicktoons specials in the mid-1990s, were also handled by Viacom.
I figured MTV's Programming was syndicated on local stations because in my TV Guide Collection I have 10 "Fall Preview" TV Guides from Orlando and they include three 1980s "Fall Preview" TV Guides, and they are from 1984, 1986, and 1987. and I notced that the MTV awards were going to appear on Channel 51 (FOX 51 WOGX Gainesville-Ocala Florida) and I thought to myself, now wait a minute, MTV was a cable channel!
