Jeopardy! Contestant Question
« on: April 25, 2004, 09:05:59 PM »
About a month ago, I recieved this 1993 ep of Jeopardy! featuring Darell Scott who had the misfortune of whizzing all of his winnings down to $1, even worse, his two opponents blew EVERYTHING on thier wagers making Darell the big J! champ with that dollar !

My question is, does anybody here know how far Darell got ? Sure would of been a shame if he lost the next show.

I'd love to hear Johnny say: "Whose one-day cash winnins total... $1" AGIOT ?

According to the EOTVGS 3, Daryl did win the next day with $13,402, but that his as far as he went, as far as I know.

Not bad for the second day!

Didn't they have a three way zero tie on the GSN J's?

They had a couple in the 1984-85 season, and a few others over the years(including a 1996 celeb ep. with Jon Lovitz Carl Lewis and Matthew Fox), but I can't recall if there was one in the 1997-98 season, and a quick Google search for a spoiler from that season doesn't indicate such a tie occurred

There was, with Jane Curtin, Naomi Judd and a third celeb that I can't remember.  (Jane was assured of a win if she had bet nothing.)  This was one of that season's single-day celebrity editions.  Alex explained that because Jane led going into Final J!, she got the $5,000 bonus.

ETA:  Darrell Scott's total was announced.

Would that be the same ep where one of the other players told Curtain "who's the ignorant slut now?" - that was one of the funniest things I've seen on J!

There was indeed one in summer 1998, near the end of the season.

The rivalry between Jane and Naomi Judd. After getting a question right, Jane directs an emphatic "Ha!" at Naomi, to which she replies "I guess you're not an ignorant slut after all!"

I had to reformat the closed captions on that episode for GSN a few weeks ago, and interestingly enough, that exchange was cut from the "rerun version" of the show (i.e., the version that would have aired a year later in daytime on the few stations that pick up that second run).

So does GSN get the "rerun" versions, or the originals?

From the way he described it, I am assuming they get the reruns. BTW, my affliate does air reruns from the year before. I am taping that version daily in fact, as I tape Karn Feud at night.

Yes, GSN gets the rerun versions.  Usually, they're no different from the originals, although in addition to that particular celebrity episode (which also had a couple of other edits), we just went through two weeks where they had taken out a Sears contest promo and replaced it with a "15th anniversary" promo and an extended contestant plug...neither of which, I assume, will actually show up in the GSN broadcast.
