Match Game 78
« on: May 02, 2004, 02:03:46 PM »
Just a little programming note, tomorrow should be the first episode of Match Game 78 with the new set. I say that, because at the end of today's episode with the old set still, when they showed who would be on the following week, the new set could be seen in the background. Just a little heads up for you all.

The 4th season of MGPM began one week after the set change.  IIRC there were some little quirks in the set for one MGPM, the first of the season.  The one that comes to mind were the colored inserts around the score displays on the contestant podiums - missing for just that one MGPM.  If that makes any sense, I'm guessing that the set will be like this for the upcoming two weeks of MG78 - probably the first weekend of shows taped that season?

I noticed today when they were showing the people that would be on that first week with the new set, that for the bottom tier, the blue panel or whatever behind the stars was somewhat darker.  Was that because of the lighting on set?

One other thing too, why was the set not darkened during the opening of shows that used the new set?

There are two possible answers to that question:

a) Because of the angle of the constellation Uranus with respect to the moon, light color temperature is such during that time of year that the lights COULD be down, but it would look as it they were up.

b) SOMEONE FRIGGIN' DIDN'T WANT TO.

Why must you respond like that? I was just curious. No need to respond like that.

Hey, thanks for dropping in and... I'm sorry, what exactly was your contribution?

Look, this thread started out discussing something useful.  (Although I walked away from it at "why did they darken the lights" or whatever it was.)   It didn't start out as "I like Captain Kangaroo; that was a cool show" or that horrible fan-fic stuff.

Because it's an idiotic question. You are asking about a minor aesthetic decision that was made over a quarter of a century ago. I doubt anyone much cared about the issue THEN, much less NOW, so I can't see why you think anyone would know, much less care.

Well, apparently somebody DOES care about it, otherwise they wouldn't have asked.  I don't see why people are looked down on for noticing or being curious about seemingly insignificant details like that, I see that as a positive thing.

I saw part of the first show with the new set last night. I had taped it earlier in the day. It seems, they did have a darker blue background behind the bottom tier. The lights were down at the intro. Maybe they only had them on during the syndie run.

BTW Melman the colored inserts around the score displays were missing.

I think that the blue set looked better than the old one.
