2nd question:  Arrange historical events in order from oldest to most recent--Lincoln-Douglas debates, French-Indian War, Lewis and Clark expedition, and some tariff.  I didn't even hear what the name of the tariff was [/quote]
 Hawley-Smoot Tariff I suppose.

That sounds familiar.  I can't believe I'm saying this but...I'll take your word for it, Zach.

I _think_ I actually picked one of the tape dates that was added (the 18th) -- weren't they doing day before airing?

And there was an A-B-C-D for one of the celeb editions...

Put the following letters in order to form a popular first name:

A) N
B) O
C) R
D) M

Of course, that was for the guy who played "NORM!" on "Cheers"...

Put these words to arrange the name of a location in South Africa
1. Cape
2. Hope
3. Of
4. Good

With 1-3-4-2, I advance to question 2

Put these supermodels in order of when they first signed as spokesmodels for Cover Girl starting with the earliest

1. Tyra Banks
2. Cheryl Tiegs
3. Niki Taylor
4. Brandy

I think I went 2-3-1-4 and whatever I entered, it was right

Put these literary works in order of when they were first published starting with the earliest

1. The Last of the Mohicans
2. The Canterbury Tales
3. Utopia
4. The Taming of the Shrew

I didn't know, so I guessed 3-2-4-1, I inverted the first two. The correct answer was 2-3-4-1.

Better luck tomorrow!

When was Utopia published?  The Canterbury Tales (14th century) and The Taming of the Shrew (late 16th century) sound like the obvious choices for the two earliest works.

Utopia's Set me Free was a hit in 1980...... Seriously, the book was published in 1516, as per a quick Google search.

Ouch...  You see, THAT was what I thought I was going to get for a Q3 book question, rather than Zhivago and the Joy Luck Club and the like...

Thought I'd share how I'm doing trying to be a super millionaire.  After a few warm-up/practice calls, this is what I got.

Q1: Arrange these school job in order of hierarchy starting with the highest.

Superintendent
Classroom Teacher
Assistant Principal
Principal

1-4-3-2.  No problem.  Next question.

Q2: Arrange these postal codes in order from west to east starting in the west

CO
AR
NV
NC

3-1-2-4.  Got it, moving right along...

Q3: Arrange these TV shows in order of their debut starting with the earliest.

I Love Lucy
Cheers
Saturday Night Live
The Simpsons

I prayed that I'd keep getting questions like these. :-p  1-3-2-4.  And then....

Q4: Arrange these rivers in order of length starting with the longest.

Congo
Amazon
Mekong
Nile

...the roadblock.  I said 4-1-2-3 when it should've been 4-2-1-3.  So close, yet so far.  I'll do it all again tomorrow.

Made it!  Signed up for the taping on the 18th, phone call (I hope) on the 16th.  The questions weren't terribly hard compared to what I've seen here and what I've struck out on before, but of course it's nerve wracking to get through all 5.  Let's see if I can remember (all were starting with the earliest):

Q1) Assassination attempts

    1) Franklin Roosevelt
    2) Ronald Reagan
    3) Teddy Roosevelt
    4) George Wallace

Q2) Literary works

    1) Devil with the Blue Dress
    2) Satanic Verses
    3) Divine Comedy
    4) Paradise Lost

Q3) Opening of tourist attractions

    1) Mall of America
    2) Statue of Liberty
    3) USS Arizona Monument
    4) Walt Disney World

Q4) Shoe lines introduced in the US

    1) Hush Puppies
    2) Keds
    3) Avia (?)
    4) Florsheim

Q5) Music festivals

    1) Lilith Fair
    2) Lollapalooza
    3) Woodstock
    4) Monterey Pop

Answers:
    Q1) 3-1-4-3
    Q2) 3-4-2-1
    Q3) 2-3-4-1
    Q4) 4-2-1-3
    Q5) 4-3-2-1

At least that's the best I can recollect.  The bottom line is I punched the right buttons.  Now to recharge the cell phone.

Tonight was my best night so far, getting all the way up to question four.  However, I'm completely buffalo'd as to what the correct answer is:

Put the following measurements in order, starting with the shortest:

1.  Pace
2.  Nautical Mile
3.  Span
4.  Fathom

I put in 1-3-4-2, thinking span meant arm span (which come to think of it would be about equal to a fathom).  I then hopped on to google and a whole bunch of bridge related websites came up.  SO I'm guessing the correct answer is 1-4-2-3, but is "span" an actual length (i.e. 500 miles = 1 span, 1000 miles = 2 spans)?

Ah well, since next week is finals week here at school, perhaps trying to get on Super Millionaire is not in my best interests.   Nah.

Well, another qualifier emerges from this board.  I guess everyone here knows the routine now as far as Super Millionaire goes.

Don't forget there are 2 more tape dates(most likely) to choose from if you make it all the way.  Today is Round 6 in this qualifying session.  Good luck!

No, that's an actual FF from a celebrity week.  It's for NORM MacDonald.

On both Monday and Tuesday, I missed the fifth question.

On Wednesday, though, I qualified with this set...

Steps in baking a cherry pie, first to last:
1. Put the dough into the pan.
2. Bake the pie.
3. Pour cherry filling into the pan.
4. Cover with the top crust.

(1-3-4-2)

Organisms in their position on the food chain, bottom to top:
1. Algae
2. Krill
3. Human
4. Cod

(1-2-4-3)

U.S. tourist attractions, west to east:
1. Faneuil Hall
2. Alcatraz
3. The Alamo
4. Grand Ole Opry

(2-3-4-1)

Cast members in order they joined "Saturday Night Live," earliest first:
1. Joe Piscopo
2. Jane Curtin
3. Jim Belushi
4. Jimmy Fallon

(2-1-3-4)

Bands in order they released their first album in the U.S., earliest first:
1. Puddle of Mudd
2. Green Day
3. Third Eye Blind
4. (I can't remember what it was, and I can't read what I scrawled down!)

I picked the May 19 tape date, so I'll be waiting for the call Monday morning.

Yikes!  2 more qualifiers here.  This session is more FF friendly than the one in February.

Time's running out to qualify for the big bucks.  Today is Round 7.  Good luck!
