TPiR LIVE

I know that the first east coast venture for the "TPiR LIVE" road show has been the topic of conjecture for quite a while; I've been getting e-mails for over a month asking what I know.

The ink isn't on all the contracts yet, but it looks to be pretty well set. Disclaimer: still, as they say, "check your local listings" in late June before making any specific plans.

The show is scheduled to open in the main showroom at Showboat: The Mardi Gras Casino, one of two Harrah's properties in Atlantic City. Opening night is Monday, July 12th, and the show is presently planned to continue for 8 weeks. The schedule calls for 6 shows a week; we'll be dark on Saturday nights. And I understand the ticket price has dropped by a few bucks. With 850 seats, this will be the largest house and stage to date for the road show. And with so many TPiR fans in the NY, NJ, PA area I'm sure there'll be a chance for everyone who comes to hook up with new friends who have a lot in common!

Opening the show for the first 2 weeks (approximately)... Todd Newton and me! We'd been hoping to have our schedules work out so we could re-team. We had a ball working together on the GSN shows and at TPIR LIVE in Reno. Thankfully the road show producers like our chemistry together. The tentative plan is that Todd and I will then move down to San Diego to debut the show at that location as well. That would be somewhere around the last week of July, but is not yet firm.

So, "come on down" and say "hi"!(No drinking with visitors on opening night in AC. I'll be flying in on a red-eye from working in LA the day before.

More details as they become available. We now return you to our regularly scheduled program in progress.

The plan is for 6 shows a week; we'll be dark on Saturday nights. I'm sure several people from this board will be there sometime during those two weeks, Randy. Good luck with it. We'll see and hear you and Todd next month

Too bad our hospitality suite is over at Resorts (which, sadly, has been de-Merv-ed)... maybe we'll come down and give you a holler.

Am I to assume that if we decide to show up as a group (was that a plan at one point?), this would be on the weekend as opposed to a weekday?

The Kansas City show had 2 shows in 1 day somedays. I wish that was the case in AC.

Is it really advisable to use your initials when they are also the abbreviation for a disease? Or are you posting on behalf of Annette Funicello?  (Look out hell, here I come!) Wait, you have the same initials as Marc Summers. Are YOU Marc trying to find out if you have a job?!   ;-)

Yes, Marc is one of the hosts whom I believe will be working TPIR LIVE this summer. I don't know his schedule yet, but he should be spending time at AC and/or SD. In addition to Todd, Chris Harrison is still in the rotation as his "The Bachelor" schedule permits. And there is talk of another TV host joining the troupe. No details yet.

Part of the fun of this TPIR LIVE gig is spending hours with old friends/co-workers. In addition to the hosts, the producers and techs are all TV alumni. I haven't spent more than a minute with Marc Summers since we worked together briefly on "Couch Potatoes". Uselss trivia: We both did warm-up on "Hour Magazine". I hope our paths cross this summer.

I recently e-mailed Showboat about when tickets go on sale. This is the response I just got.

Dear Mr. Bogart,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

This event is by invitation only. We are offering complimentary tickets based on play.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to serving you soon.

Sincerely,

Whaaaaaaaaaa?  In my opinion, it goes to show you that you got to gamble at the casino floor or a comps card to earn a certain amount of credits to "join the elite" at TPIR Live.

Haha!  Ah well...of course things can change over time.  Wow Bogart, are you sure?  :)

A quick call to Harrah's really didn't help.

They did confirm that the dates are 7/12-9/5 plus being dark on Saturday nights.

The operator said they really didn't have a lot of information and since he didn't see prices listed, it would be comp only.

He said to call back in a few weeks, to see if there is any change. He thought maybe prices weren't listed because they haven't gone on sale yet.

Complimentary tickets only would be a bad idea, IMO. They haven't done it at any of the other places this show has played in to my knowledge, why should they start it now?

Foxwoods in CT did the same thing last week with Monty Hall's Let's Make A Deal show....  I tried to get them to give me tickets to give away on my talk show, but it was invitation only for players with the "Wampum Card" (I'm not making this up)...

But being in the media does have it's advantages.... I used some pull to get backstage to meet Mr. Hall....who, along with his lovely wife, still look great!

BTW, playing the role of Jay Stewart : Rich Jefferies.... one for the "Where are they now " file!

I'm certainly not a Harrah's manager, but a couple of minutes thinking about Chris' information really confuse me.  (And I'm not saying I don't believe what he was told)

850 seats in the audience...you think they can fill that with PLAYERS alone - every day?

The prizes are not promotional at these shows, to the best of my knowledge.  Thus the reason for the ticket cost.

I'm told Harrah's has done quite well with these shows and I would see no reason why they would NOT want to charge.

I think it's just a case of the wrong person at Harrah's who didn't know.

I hope that's the case.  Seeing TPIR Live alone wouldn't have been enough to make me want to go -- but if it becomes an opportunity to meet Randy, Connecti-Matt, Rev. O'Doneganstein, and the rest, and I'd seriously consider making the trip as well.

Yeah, this could be an incredible opportunity for a bunch of us to meet. Once we get that ticket thing straightened out we should be able to work out when would be the best day.
