Why were there breaks after each and every question during the 200 dollars era on Dawson Feud. Were the shows that long on time?

No more breaks than at any other time during the ABC run--they just had it set up that way and there was frankly less time devoted to game and more to Dawson back then.

I'm guessing it was to drag out the show....I mean, when it takes 200 points to win, you figure you have to take probably about three questions (rarely, if ever, that I can remember, would a family take all 100 points to the question, if it DID add up to 100) to win the game.

If they did 2 questions before taking a commercial break, and 1 after, and the same family won all three questions, they could most likely win the game if they got at least 66/67 points a question, leaving a lot of extra time.

Of course, with Dawson chatting as much with the families as he did in the beginning, that sucked up time too.
