Appearance limits that were instituted..

I know I'm getting some criticism over that talk over the five-day limit possibly coming back to Jeopardy!, but if true, it wouldn't be the first show though:

There were other shows I believe that did it:

Caesar's Challenge: A 3-day limit was put in after a player won more than $50K on the show in the early parts of the run.

TTD'90(which we all hate): Ten-day limit instituted during the run(I think)

Press Your Luck: A "hard" 5-day limit was instituted in Nov 1st of 1984, along with the $50K limit.

Can anyone name any other shows that did it? I can't think of any others.

I'm pretty sure the original poster was looking for limits added later, that were kind of a detrement to the players. This let people win big further. And according to some posters at ATGS, the daytime limit was 5 days in the earliest shows, later made 3.

I believe TTD and TJW instituted a $50,000 limit c. 1982, for the fact that it aired on CBS O&O's, and had to adhere to CBS' $50K limit.

That was the Syndicated run having the three show limit from 1989-96.

Caesar technically had an eight show limit(contestant came back until they won the car or were defeated in the original bonus format). A contestant on their eighth day would have eight of the nine letters in the bonus word placed for them, though four days was the longest run a champ had(Tom Gauer, who is the $50K+ winner you mention)

TTD90 had a 15 show limit, established in the beginning of the run. TV Guide mentioned it, but the most a champion survived was 11 or 12 games.

I think PYL had a five show limit from the outset, no?
The show only had two five time champions in the three year run.

Zach, unless you've seen and remember every single episode of PYL, including the ones that USA never and GSN has yet to air(ed), you don't know how many 5-time champions PYL had.

Ooooooooo, I get to correct Zach!

Tom Gauer did not have the longest run on Caesar's Challenge.  There was a contestant on 6 days during the bonus round which used the rotating cage of lettered balls.  I remember the person won with the word "Arizonian".

I lived a very sheltered life 10 years ago.  That's my excuse for knowing this arcane info.

No, the original limit at PYL was that you went home once your winnings exceeded $25,000. And it sucked!

After episodes #9, #10 and #11 (which aired starting on September 29 (my birthday) in 1983) I was sent home with $25,920.95 - Without that limit I would STILL be spinning!!   ;-)

"Hit Man" instituted a one-day appearance limit on the day Randy West was on.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

No No No!!!   Randy is still in line to be the returning champ when Hit Man returns (same scenario as the man who waited about 34 months between Scrabble episodes)....

...Now Randy just has to wait until they do "Game Show Announcers Week" on Hit Man, before he can continue his reign of terror again!!!  :-P

Hey now, be nice to Randy here.  After all, he has appeared in like 9 or 10 game shows.  I like him even though I never saw him in person.  Let's respect him for what he is.
