Hasbro is introducing a handheld "Wheel Of Fortune Live Play" in which you can play along with WOF TV broadcasts beginning with the show's 22nd syndicated season this fall.

I vaguely remembered something like this, and thanks to Matt's site, I did refresh my memory on Mattel's similar handheld unit marketed around the late 1980's or so.

Speaking of the Mattel TV Play Along WOF console, is it still playable on the GSN WOF reruns, which are from the era the console was playable with(Nighttime shows from Sep 1988-Sep 1990 at least, as per the back of the console)? Was wondering due to the GSN speeding up practice.

This WOF Live Play sounds like something I might try.  Now if only they can do one for Jeopardy!  Nahh!  WOF is much easier for me anyway.

Unless you can type quickly and accurately, or some sort of voice recognition technology can be added through a TV signal, you'll have to rely on a calculator or a pen and paper to determine how you'd do on Jeopardy!

Half the fun of watching Jeopardy! in the Klauss house (yes, it rhymes) is seeing who's right first--my dad (who was in the contestant pool for the 1986-87 season) or me (was in the pool for 2002-03).

Or, you can use my Jeopardy Challenger program, available at http://FredSmythe.com! :)

(Version 1.5 will be coming up in a little bit, I need to get my programming book back from a friend. :))

Could either or both of you be eligible for future seasons since you weren't picked for air?

We both have to requalify to get in the pool since we weren't chosen in our respective seasons of eligibility.

Dad has had little interest in requalifying over the years.  I, OTOH, am already planning a trip to LA sometime next year.

I found a picture of this new WoF game. I read somewhere that the release date was "May 2004". I have yet to see it in a store.

Judging by the photo, you can actually play your own game though you still use the same puzzle as on the TV.  And you can "manually" if I can say it with accuracy spin the wheel on it.  That's a neat looking game.  I'll see if I can find it at maybe Best Buy or Toys R' Us or maybe KB Toys.

I don't think you can. That looks like a button in the middle of that portion of the unit. Perhaps a "Spin" button. I just have to think that making a physical wheel that spins would make the thing too expensive and ridiculously fragile. The Deluxe version (the larger one, anyhow...I dunno about the more compact one you see these days) had you pulling a lever over to the right to simulate spinning the wheel, I think that's about as close as you're going to get.

According to other sites I've seen, the game would be released in June of 2004. Seeing that both release dates have passed, has ANYONE found the game yet?

In some cases, Toys R' Us has games which I haven't seen or heard anything about on the internet. For example, I found a Jeopardy Handheld game with 3 remote controls you hand out players to use as buzzers...And they work wirelessly. Only $29.99 folks!

I got my Jeopardy Remote game at Wal-Mart on sale for $17.99.....
  Those good old Challenger days:  I wore out the buttons on mine;
found it at a Toys R Us in Pensacola (getting across the street from
the hospital at the peak of Rush Hour) back in August 89'

If you didn't know about Remote Jeopardy, you certainly didn't search the Internet very hard, because I KNOW it was discussed on ATGS when it was released.

I purchased my Jeopardy! Remote around the first week it was released. I think I paid $22.99 for it at K-Mart. I stopped in the same K-Mart the other day to see if they had any new gs games and I came across J! Remote on clearance for $14. I remember seeing it on clearance last time I was in there for $16. It looked like to me that they hadn't sold any since the first markdown so it looks like these will get cheaper as time goes by. Maybe I'll pick another one up when they mark them down some more.
