Wheel of Fortune season question
« on: July 12, 2004, 11:48:52 AM »
Hey, I haven't had a chance to watch GSN lately (since I have to go to my aunt's house to watch it, I hate not having cable.) and I was wondering if they are finally showing a different season of Wheel, or did they start up the 88-89 season for the 3,000th...uh, I mean 3rd year in a row?  Thanks.

The 88-89 season has yet to end on the weekday or weekend runs. The weekday run is very close though, so we'll see what happens soon.

Oh ok, thanks Adam....I'm trying to persuade my mom into getting cable so I can see my classic WoF, among other things, but she said, "We couldn't afford it if it was free."  So I'm guessing that we're gonna have cable really soon.  EDIT:  I hope I didn't break anyone's sarcasm detectors, if I did, call 1-800-SARCASM for a free new one. ;-)

 Season rehash (1988-89) #3001 begins.

Does anyone REALLY expect any different?

No, but I can't say I am dissapointed, since these shows are new to me.

This is one lazy cable network. No wonder they get such low ratings. An 0.9 show to GSN is an hit.How hard is it to get another season on WOF? Even getting seasons from the mid to late 90's would be a nice change!

GSN is one lazy cable network......

HOW LAZY IS IT?!?!?!?!

It's so lazy, they won't show good shows like "Tic Tac Dough".  They insist on rerunning _____________ 3001 times.

Imagine this: there are some people who think TTD wasn't all that good of a show.

I second that, Mr. Lemon.

And I'll say it again- if you've seen all 200 episodes of the 1988-1989 season of Wheel of Fortune,  please, PLEASE, I'm begging you-get out more.

I disagree with that comment. It makes people like me and others seem like we have no lives besides game shows, which is not true in the least.

What a weak argument.  Just because I watch all the shows of a certain season does not mean I don't have a life.  I guess I'm not allowed to reserve a time in the day to do something I like without being considered a waste.

Well I'm sure there are many people out there who have no lives, since GSN has rerun this season constantly for what, the last 2 or 3 years? You don't even have to watch WOF on a regular basis to catch each episode. Also, I've seen almost every episode of PYL over the last 20 years, does that mean I have no life too?

There were 2 differences on the first week of the '88-'89 season of Wheel, the $5000 wedge had a different font which was used mostly during the Jack Clark announcing seasons of Wheel of Fortune and contestants picking 5 Consonants and 1 Vowel but it didn't always have to be RSTLNE, sometimes contestants pick any consonant besides the RSTLN and sometimes contestants pick any vowel besides the E.

It was on October 3, 1988(the fifth week of the 1988-89 syndie season), that both the daytime and nighttime WOF changed the bonus round to the current format.
