That all sounds interesting, but I haven't watched wheel on a regular basis since they got rid of the "$25,000" sign. It's odd how the show keeps evolving. Atmosphere-wise, it looks nothing like it did in '76.
Why couldn't that press release say "we've brought back the shipboard party"?

Naw, but I would like to see some more interesting bonus prizes. An original Andy Warhol would be nice to see.

More gift tags, and SPIN prizes, means more time to plug, plug, plug! Pretty soon every space on the wheel will be sponsored by a company. "Round 4, we have the Southwest Airlines $5,000 space on the wheel".

Heck, with all those plugs, Wheel would be lucky to even get to Round 4.

It really didnt say in that press release (at least I dont think it did), but I believe the Mystery Space is switching from $500 to $1,000 now.

Saw Wheel in Philadelphia this past Saturday. Higly enjoyable. Haven't seen a taping of it since my sister was on the show in 1990. Things have progressed since then, besides the puzzleboard being computerized now, as now the offcamera scoreboard and used letter board are no longer manually operated by a staffer, they are no computerized too.

In answer to your question, the mystery wedge is now worth $1,000 per letter. Besides two prize tags, those are the only changes to the wheel.

BTW, here's a question. We were trying to figure out the age of Charlie. I think he's between 75 and 80 (around Dick Clark or Ed McMahon's age). Anyone know? He sounded under the weather when he was talking to us. and all of his plugs sounded prerecorded. Does he do anything live anymore?

Evolving isn't quite the word I would use. That show has gotten way too full of itself.

I read "full of itself" as "bloated." The show is getting carried away with such things: More and more commercial plugs...new category names ("Not just TITLE, but BEST SELLING TITLE!")...throwing insane amounts of money at players...a video wall that renders Vanna's job worthless...

Yet, I still watch. What's wrong with me!? Maybe it's because I get pleasure at yelling at the stupid contestants? What's that word?...Schadenfreude?

P.S. I'm glad the Mystery Wedge is up to $1,000. It should have been that amount from the beginning. Now we'll get more risks to flip it over.

IMO, $1,000 is too much to risk. I doubt many contestants are gonna go for the prize, espically if it's a $10,000 gift card or shopping spree. $500 was fine.

I thought the Mystery Wedge [That is brought to you by Hot Pockets] was always played for a car; if it was; when did that change?
